That was absolutely terrible today. I thought we were starting to improve after the last two matches, but sadly it appears we are back to square one. I felt there was quite a good crowd there today and yet again, the team failed to show.

The game is all about goals and if had scored the excellent chance we missed in the first minute, who knows? Instead, we completely caved in and got worse as the game wore on. Saying that, if we had scored the two excellent chances at the start of the second half it may have given the team a lift. However, one thing i am certain about now is we need a new management team for next season. They have ran out of ideas and the signings in the forward areas are simply horrendous.

Mcglynns recent signings havent improved us at all. In fact we have gone backwards.

Stanton is a player but we haven't found how to get the best out of him. Williamson is the proverbial Rangers loanee who thinks he's better than he actually is, Gullan a complete non event since signing.

I too was alarmed at how inept Berra was today. Far and away his worst performance at a time when you are hoping someone like him can galvanise things and drive us on.

We have absolutely no threat up front whatsoever and that has been apparent for months.

The players and coaches should hang their heads in shame, that was an appalling display of football.
Totally outplayed by Ayr United.

After reading the comments about Christophe Berra eg SG and NR, and being distinctly unimpressed myself today, I express the theory that playing both weekends and midweek is now beyond him? Mind you, Bene is rather younger and he was no better.🙄
The midfield ,defensively, got away with a lot against Killie and escaped much criticism because they played well offensively, but they were at sixes and sevens today. Hate to say it , but ,as a three, they lack the fluidity of our recent midfield trios. These three seem to require more disciplined positioning, with one exclusively confined to defensive chores. This should be assisted by Brad Spencer coming back in place of Williamson (who has had his good games for us, and , usually works hard, but is a developing player
and will have off days, as today, perhaps affected by fluffing his two good chances).
Matej , I thought , played better than most today (not a high bar ), but I don't see him as an out-and-out lone striker.
Difficult to shake off that depressed feeling.

I wasn't at the game, but the score-line speaks for itself.

Stagnancy has to be the main reason for once-great managers getting the sack. We saw it more quickly with Barry Smith and within a season with Gary Locke. The wins turn into draws and the draws into loses. Could it be that players heads are down, because they have no idea who they will be playing under next season? How many have one eye on the exit-door? Then there are the very real questions of the club's reputation, their financial health and where that might end. Do the players know something that we don't?

John McGlynn's intentions are good - to "put things right". It is not going well at all and time is running out. He could do worse than giving Smith a bigger say in planning games for the remainder of the season. What else has he got to lose at this stage?

It seems a foregone conclusion that the BoD will let McGlynn go now - if he doesn't walk first. Does anybody think that we will get a brilliant new sought-after manager, with vision and a fantastic track record? Why would they work for us at this point in time? We will most likely get whoever gets the sack elsewhere for poor form like ours - or even worse - Maurice Ross? Darren Young? John Hughes? Peter Grant? We won't get any say in the matter.

I felt after recent events that we needed strong leadership, business genius, tactical-planning genius and 100% from all of the players. We have seen none of the above. At this moment in time, the freefall has begun. It was always going to. The question now is where / when / how will it all end.

John McGlynn, to be fair, is the one who faces the media questions and who takes responsibility. It needs for every board member and every player to start doing the same! For me, everyone at the club should invest time in a long meeting - sit down at the table - and everyone invovled should be asked what they see as the problems and what they see as possible solutions. Burying heads in the sand and letting go of the steering wheel now will end in a bad place. If it is nipped in the bud now, I see no reason why the club cannot move forward.

Not sure we can hold up Poplatnik as our potential savior anymore. We wanted him to get a start and finally he did.

I expect they will ask JMcG to resign or be fired, ask Smudger to caretaker to seasons end and then leave (as a bonus, his wife keeps her job until then), and hopes we forget the BoD’s involvement in this fiasco.

Why would they ask Mcglynn to resign and ask Paul Smith his trusted assistant without whom he wouldn't have taken the job in the first place to take over?

For as bad as today was, I can't imagine the board are contemplating a change of management at present.
I'd imagine McGlynn's remit at the start of the season was to at least make the top four, so while we're one point away, he won't be removed.
As Embow says, the previous post is pure conjecture.

I honestly thought after the Partick game last Saturday we'd turned a wee corner and was stupidly optimistic about getting a win today.

On the day we remembered Frank Connor, I shudder to think what the great man would have made of such a pea-hearted performance.

I shudder to think what the great man would be thinking about the crowd wanting a Raith manager sacked after a third place and possibly fifth place finish in the league. Fair to say expectations must be higher now than they were in the 80s.

The manager who I,m sure says not too long ago that this was our best chance of getting out of this league and who has managed a team with one win in 3 months and who has been involved the signing of DG which has seen the loss of sponsors,volunteers leave in their droves and cost the club a fortune
