Not sure how this thread evolved into this but here’s my 2d worth.
No team is running away with this league, at least not yet, so to say we are out of the running for winning it is not only typically pessimistic but a trifle premature.
This league has been there for the winning and still is, not having grasped the opportunity might well prove to be our downfall, the last time we were in this position (with the Pars) the following season we were expecting more of the same and it didn’t happen, then we lost McGlynn and didn’t challenge for the title again until now.
Perhaps there is a strong case for respecting history and not making the same choices going forward.
I too think the current side would toil horribly in the SPL but to not take the opportunity would be worse, if you don’t want to play against the best what’s the point? _________________ Competitive goals: Vaughan 5, Smith 4, Easton 3, Hamilton 2, Dick 1, Gullan 1, Masson 1, Mitchell 1, Mullin 1, Stanton 1, Watson 1, OG's 1, |

A club like ours is going to have a lot of those experiments, probably more so if we go up to the SPL. Part and parcel of this level of football with such a small talent pool to pick from. |
You have a point but it is those sort of signings and having a blind spot for certain players that gives us no chance of promotion. Full marks for optimism though. |
Full marks for pessimism, SR! |

Our rivals for promotion are all spending and bringing in, on the face of it, significant reinforcements. Killie now linked with Scott Allan and Inverness are signing some guy from Wolves on an 18 month deal.
Do we roll the dice and spend the money on doing likewise and hope the gamble comes in? It's true we might not be in the is postioncagainvforna while.
At least three out of the five teams vying for promotion are going to be disappointed. Presumably they will be in a poorer position next season if they spend now and don't end up going up. We'll certainly be poorer off if we strengthen now in the short term but are then struggling with the finances to properly replace those who will be leaving us in the summer. Do we keep our powder dry so we are in good footing for next term?
I don't know what the right course of action is and who says there is one? I trust those in charge to make the right decisions for the right reasons. Half of everything is luck anyway. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

We too have spent, Gullane, williamson and stanton. Still think another one will arrive on Monday, spending some of our celtic money. |

On the subject of BRS his finest performance for us was actually in our best performance of the season when we beat Aberdeen at Starks. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

So he didn't score with a header at Somerset in the 2-0 win? _________________ Competitive goals: Vaughan 5, Smith 4, Easton 3, Hamilton 2, Dick 1, Gullan 1, Masson 1, Mitchell 1, Mullin 1, Stanton 1, Watson 1, OG's 1, |

That's right. How can I forget how prolific he is? |

“The respondent has made an unauthorised deduction from the claimant’s wages and is ordered to pay the claimant the sum of £2,615.77 (net).”
The Rovers didn’t even respond to the complaint. |

Bad publicity and flies in the face of the Rovers' traditionally good reputation of treating players well. |
