AR as you'll see from my post the goalie wasn't Bobby Reid but a J. Gray..not a guy I remember but he was obviously Bobby's reserve.
Found out he was Jim Gray the reserve keeper who was a free from Partick Thistle. Bobby broke his toe in training and Jim deputised for three games. The Rangers hammering being the middle one of the three. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

All facts and information gleaned from John Litster's Always Next Season. Would love it if he or someone else could devote the time to updating the masterpiece that it is.🤞 _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

I wonder if the D Smith listed for Rangers is the same chap that had/has the Coaledge Tavern just outside Crossgates.
If so he will be 78 now. _________________ Hope he's got plenty Rovers action to comment on tonight.... |

Is the guy from Coaledge not Alex Smith (ex Pars as opposed to Nicholl's second assistant)? _________________ Dougie Hill

The ex Pars Alex Smith lived in Burntisland roughly across the road from the Shippy's ground. It's all houses in that area now. The garden wall and steps up to the house were right on the side of the road. I'm fairly sure Alex was a painter to trade.
Useless information, I know, but in passing, the D Smith for Rangers was Dave Smith who also played for Aberdeen.
Some Alex Smith facts....
During his eight-year spell at East End Park he made 298 appearances and scored 98 goals. He won the 1961 Scottish Cup and played in the Scottish Cup final 1965 and European matches against the likes of Valencia and Athletic Bilbao.
In August 1966, Smith signed for Rangers for a then Scottish record transfer fee of £55,000. He made his debut on 13 August in a Scottish League Cup match versus Hibernian. He would stay at the club until in 1969 and make 68 appearances and score 26 goals, including playing in the 1967 European Cup Winners' Cup Final. Indeed, in that season he was top scorer for the club with 23 goals.
He left Ibrox for a brief spell at Aberdeen before becoming a landlord of a pub in Coaledge.👍
Take a bow Specky Ginger🤗
Dave Smith's brother was Doug Smith the former Dundee Utd centre half who then became a director of the club. A mentor to a young Walter Smith. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

A very significant day 16 years ago for the survival of the club. We've all come a long way since.😊🥃
A consortium of Raith Rovers investors under the legal banner New Raith Rovers came together to buy the majority stake in Raith Rovers from West City Developments for £100000 _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Agreed.
But unfortunately we won't have 117 minutes in which to score the winner tonight. _________________ Dougie Hill
