This is how Falkirk are dealing with the restrictions for the boxing day game

The club can now provide the following update to supporters, in relation to the new restrictions introduced at sporting events.

Of the total allocation of 500 tickets, 120 must be pre-allocated to hospitality guests, essential staff, representatives of the opposition and as a result of contractual obligations.

A total of 380 tickets will therefore be made available to season ticket holders only for this fixture.

Tickets will be issued on a first come basis from 9am on Thursday the 23rd of December at the club shop.

Please ensure you bring your season ticket with you, as well as the season ticket of any family members or friends that you are hoping to secure a ticket for. A maximum of 4 supporters will be permitted in the club shop at any one time to ensure social distancing guidelines are followed.

Please remember to wear a face covering (unless exempt) and maintain social distancing when in the queue and shop.

All available tickets will be for the main stand and will be unreserved seating. Following Scottish Government guidance, 1m distancing rules will be in place throughout the main stand, however families and those from the same household will be permitted to sit together. Catering kiosks will be open for this game and COVID protocols will be in place.

Unfortunately, many season ticket holders will miss out on the opportunity to attend this fixture and we understand the frustration and disappointment this will cause. The club considered a range of options for distributing the limited tickets, including on-line sales and a ballot, however all other options present a range of significant difficulties. It was concluded that this method was the fairest way to issue these limited tickets to season ticket holders, and to ensure that everyone who is fortunate enough to receive a ticket will attend the match.

Disabled access

A small number of tickets are reserved to those season ticket holders who normally sit in a disabled access seat. To obtain a ticket for this section please email laura@falkirkfc.co.uk

Tickets will be issued on a first come basis. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate all disabled access season ticket holders.

Falkirk TV

All season ticket holders have a complimentary pass to Falkirk TV, to allow you to watch the game live.

Due to the anticipated, higher than average viewing figures, we strongly encourage all season ticket holders to ensure they try their login by Thursday 23rd December.

Please report any issues to support@falkirkfc.tv before 12pm on Friday 24th December to allow the club to resolve before Christmas Day.

There will be limited IT support available on Boxing Day.

Behind the Goals

Our supporters bar will be OPEN on Sunday from 12.30 and we will stream the game live.

The bar will be open to any Falkirk FC supporter who is unable to obtain a match ticket, who wishes to enjoy the game with fellow supporters.

To ensure we comply with capacity and COVID regulations, tables must be booked in advance and will be issued on a first come basis.

Dunfermline next two home games behind closed doors

Good statement/explanation put out by our neeburs

The health of everyone in our local community, and the wider country is without question the most important thing that we must consider. The spread of Omicron needs to be slowed to protect the NHS.

However, being given only two full business days notice that we would again be subject to such onerous restrictions is incredibly frustrating. We were fortunate this year to have two upcoming homes games during the holiday period, with hospitality being sold out for both matches.

The last couple of days have been very challenging, trying to come up with a balanced and fair solution to the hand that we were dealt on Tuesday afternoon.

A restricted crowd of 500, which is also subject to a 1 metre social distance, is actually worse than a closed door event, as we will still carry a large number of our costs with no revenue in return. We will already lose thousands of pounds from pre orders we had to make for hospitality. It also creates potential division between supporters all of whom are understandably desperate to attend East End Park. Organising an opt in ballot at such short notice, during a national holiday is hugely complex.

For all of the above reasons, we have had to make the very difficult decision to play our upcoming matches against Arbroath on 26th December, and Inverness on 29th December behind closed doors.

Our preference had been to explore other options with our fellow clubs, such as a 3 week break, to give us the opportunity to get more people boosted with their third vaccination and potentially ensure more supporters would be able to attend the rescheduled fixtures. However, the consensus view at a meeting of the Championship clubs today was to continue to play matches.

We hope that our loyal supporters will understand and appreciate the difficulties that we faced in coming to this decision. All season ticket holders will of course be entitled to a free stream of both matches via Pars TV.

It is yet another blow to our national game, and our own supporters who have had such a tough time of it over the last couple of years. This season has already been a very frustrating one for our supporters, for all sorts of reasons, including a match cancellation and two games being abandoned.

As a business, we suffer from all of the restrictions placed upon both the hospitality and sports sector. We sincerely hope that football clubs who are the heartbeat of their local community, as DAFC demonstrated in the early days of the vaccines being rolled out, will be able to obtain commensurate support from the Scottish Government.

In the meantime, we wish all of our supporters and their families a peaceful and safe Christmas and hope we are all reunited back at East End Park very, very soon.

Well done to Dunfermline, that is probably the correct call to make in the circumstances. Falkirk are just making it harder for any supporter who has a standard job to get tickets and are making people queue up, risking Covid at the same time.

With twenty squillion season ticket holders and an actual gate of less than 2500 attending EEP every game it make little or no difference to DAFC what they decide to do.
On one hand they probably need the walk-up support as much as we do but on the other their stewarding costs will be massively slashed.

This ban doesn't affect me as I'm working for the next 2 weeks and will miss Ayr, QotS & the Pars games. I am back for the ICT and Arbroath and BoD games but will they have spectators and if they do will my luck mean I miss out on the ballot?

Scottish and particularly the Welsh goverments have jumped the gun and been far too hasty. Omicron figures show it is more readily transmissable than other varients but all the available data I have seen so far show's it to be having no effect on the hospital admission or death rates.

I think they (Scot's & Welsh Gov'ts) are going to look silly on this and the fallout will be the effect on the polls in the next election.

On the broader topic of the rights and wrongs of reimposition of restrictions, I get the government's stance of 'better safe than sorry'. I say this even if it is becoming an ever more open secret that Omicron is statistically less life-threatening than the 'flu.

Why? Because a government statement saying 'don't worry, be happy' at this stage is going to drive the wrong behaviours across society even more. This is seen in SE England in particular, where people are emboldened by successive mixed messages from UK government, despite being collectively under-vaccinated in that corner of the UK. They then get infected, albeit mildly, but then so infect others, including NHS workers, who then have to isolate and so strain the Health Service again.

If the football fans' sacrifice is to miss a cople of matches (or not, as in Scotty's case), then surely that's a small price to pay?

Personally, I wasn't planning a trip to Ayr on Sunday anyway (although I know of some who are/were...). And a Wednesday night at the San Starko at the end of December isn't my favourite thing either, although I'd have been there. And now I can watch it online AND have a glass or three...

Yes, I'm scunnered to not get a derby to attend where we can sort out the Townies once and for all (again), but I'll get over it. Although why the Championship sides voted in favour of continuing and not shutting down for at least the New Year fixtures is a difficult one to understand. As well as ourselves, Killie, Arbroath and Thistle would've brought in a few shillings, even QOS would've turned a profit...

If my next match is 15th Jan vs Arbroath, then so be it. Meantime, I'm going to enjoy Xmas!!!

Sadly this is now a political exercise rather than one with concern for public health.

I agree with SDR comments though Jason the dentists comments about the 500 crowd limit is a matter of grave concern if this is how public health messaging is derived by govt "advisors".

Really everything that the government does is political. Why the Scottish government would do something that is seemingly unpopular is anyone's guess....
Maybe they are doing it for the same reason as almost every other government and authority in western Europe?
