I don’t think this pitch is any better or worse than most “ plastic” pitches. It certainly LOOKS weird on TV, but then again, so does san starko on the telly.
Me of the opinion it was more the fact that here on the west coast the wind was in excess of 40 mph according to the BBC weather app, and I was out with my dog and agree with the beeb.
The swirling wind has a massive impact on playing conditions and it would have SOME effect on the performance, that said, QOS dealt with it better than us.
As “ somewhat” of a specialst on weather due to being a retired air traffic controller who was formally trained in basic meteorology, I can confidently say that on the west coast it is wetter and windier than the east coast by some margin.
The point being, QOS are more exposed to these conditions more than we are and maybe they adapt better.
This all stated, there has been quite a few changes to the team recently and that could also have made a difference.
I am quick enough to criticise usually, but, Methinks the weather and the changes of personnel had a negative effect, and we were VERY LUCKY that our keeper is without doubt our saviour.

I was in Dumfries on Friday and was shocked on Saturday lunchtime to find the Nith at least 6 feet higher than the previous day. _________________ Hope he's got plenty Rovers action to comment on tonight.... |

I think I read that Morton have a couple of Newcastle loanees in their squad. _________________ Dougie Hill

I can see the possibility of Frankie being tried as a defensive midfielder in January after Dylan is off to Hibs (assuming that his loan period is not extended) but where will he play for the remainder of this year?
Presumably, part of the deal with Hibs is that Dylan actually plays for us. Matthews and Spencer are integral to our style of play.
Does that mean that Frankie only gets game-time off the bench?
If so, how can JMcG be satisfied that Frankie will fulfill his new role well? Up until now he hasn't been a midfielder.
If it doesn't work out, we are short in midfield, since ,sadly, BRS isn't the answer. |

I may be well off the mark here, but might putting Frankie in at RB and moving Tumilty to midfield be a possibility? Frankie's defensive qualities are there for all to see, and if Tumilty has a small weakness it would appear to be in his ability to actually defend. Having said this, I highly rate Tumilty's abilities as a player pushing forward.
Just a thought. |

Before Tait leaves, where does Frankie play if not at DM/Sweeper? Does he replace Berra? Bene? Lang?
As for replacing Tumilty at RB, I would judge that as folly, given Tumilty’s overall performance this year. RB is very different than DM, while CH and DM have a lot more in common. |

I’ve no idea if Musonda will be tried in the middle (McGlynn mentioned it one time briefly in an interview?) and I’ve certainly no idea if it will suit him.
In my opinion, a fit Musonda is the best CB at the club and for as well as the others have done, I would hate to see him shoehorned into midfield just to save money on not replacing Tait and/or saving McGlynn from dropping Bene or Berra.
It’s an ‘unfortunate’ situation that we have four quality centre backs (and another out on loan) while we are light in other areas.
What I will say is that Frankie will make a better defensive midfielder than a full/wing back as he has always looked uncomfortable there, same as Bene did..same as Davo did.. Matthews..the list goes on, we have always struggled when playing guys out of position there, it is a specialist position and we have little to no cover if Dick or Tumilty are crocked/suspended |

Lang covers Tumilty and Young covers Dick. Musonda can play either, but is not as effective…I suspect that JMcG wanted to get Frankie some playing time more than he felt he was the best choice at LB, but Young is very young and inexperienced, so Frankie was probably the better shout there too. |
