At the moment, Blaise is good squad cover and we were getting worryingly tight on numbers.
He has good attributes but needs to work on aspects of his game , not least alertness to potential danger and ability to close down faster. However, he seems willing to learn and up his game with extra time spent eg recently with Joe Cardle at his Academy. |

That’s Arnott on the back burner the rest of the season. Wouldn’t be surprised if Coulson comes back in Jan and Arnott goes out to a League One team. |
Don't see it, Arnott and Riley-Snow are vastly different players. There is place in the squad for them now and will be in Jan when Tait leaves. Coulson as well is a different player, with Ross joining, he's better served on loan at Cowden if he can break into the team regularly there. |
I understand your point, but with RBS here, plus Matthews and Spencer, I don’t see Arnott getting the time he was going to after Tait leaves* if RBS wasn’t extended. Add the missing 6 weeks due to injury, and I think Arnott would see better development at Montrose or Falkirk, for instance. Coulson and Arnott are actually pretty similar AM types, though Coulson shades toward the wing. With a return of Coulson, we have the same late sub/emergency cover that Arnott has provided so far this year. Add to that the very limited playing time for Coulson and Mahady, and I’d be very surprised if either stayed at Cowdenbeath beyond Jan. I’d also bet that Mitchell goes on loan when Mahady comes back.m
*With Hibs playing well in third, an extension of Tait’s loan, especially with his playing time, wouldn’t be unexpected. |

Off to Alloa on loan until the end of his contract. Never quite adapted to the pace of the Championship but good luck to him! |

Yeah good luck BRS, it was an experiment that didn’t quite work. _________________ Competitive goals: Vaughan 5, Smith 4, Easton 3, Hamilton 2, Dick 1, Gullan 1, Masson 1, Mitchell 1, Mullin 1, Stanton 1, Watson 1, OG's 1, |

Hopefully the plan is to free up some money to sign a forward. I can't believe we extended his contract in October as it was clear then he had little to offer. Another experiment that didn't work. |

Good luck to the man!
Plenty forwards out on loan now. Time to put up the vacancy sign! |

A club like ours is going to have a lot of those experiments, probably more so if we go up to the SPL. Part and parcel of this level of football with such a small talent pool to pick from. |

I always thought he looked decent just needed a good run to get up to speed and get his confidence, but McGlynn was right about Duku and Ugwu (amongst others) no need to doubt him now.
Poor Blaise, in for some shock when he gets to Alloa though, especially when he meets Mendy _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

You have a point but it is those sort of signings and having a blind spot for certain players that gives us no chance of promotion. Full marks for optimism though. |

My optimism is not based on this season, i'd probably rather we didn't go up this year, I think we'd be straight back down and back in a mess again. Personally (and I know this will not be popular), I'd much rather take a season or two and we build on and off the pitch (no youth/B side at all, poor attendances etc) and get a good sustainable infrastructure before pushing up and give ourselves a chance to actually compete and become one of the SPL sides, rather that than a Dundee/Ross County/Inverness type of yo-yo club. Maybe that in itself isn't sustainable though? |

You and me both GP but if the opportunity should come our way this season to manage to get promoted then it must be fully embraced and addressed. We might not get another shot at it for long enough despite agreeing with your sentiments. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

The opportunity has been right under our nose this season and we have failed to fully embrace and address a serious challenge. For me outright promotion is now gone although all to play for in the play off positions.
I doubt we could build anything more sustainable from our current position in the Championship. |
