Don't hate me for this guys but, first and foremost Rovers are a business and if I look on Lewis' situation, his costs in terms of availability, medical treatments, rehab costs etc and tally them up against appearances, then it makes no fiscal sense to keep the lad on.
Yes we all love him, and yes, on his day he is a great goal scorer, even more so, if you have been lucky enough to meet him, he is a great lad. But it just does not make good business sense to keep financing his injuries. We wont get a big transfer fee for him because of his medical history and it looks like we wont get any kind of consistent return for our investment in his medical bills.
Unless some medical type can come up with the underlying reason he keeps having these problems and can provide a solution, perhaps it is time to cut him loose.
Sorry to say it, but sentiment has to take second place to business and returns and I think John Sim may be the one to say enough is enough.

Well the guy is under contract so there will be no cutting him loose. Even with the money we have spent supporting Vaughan during the times when he couldn't play I feel that he has more than repaid that with his performances and goals when he has been able to play.

LV Not for giving in

“Gutted to be writng this is an understatement.I ruptured my ACL last week in training for the 4th time.
Although hard to process at the moment will be doing everything in my power to give me the best chance to get me back on the football pitch at some point and get that feeling back of scoring a goal
Thanks to everyone for the messages of support,it means a lot,its only a matter of time until I score again”

Many thanks for sharing that, Vinnie.

Lewis has already exhibited incredible fortitude and I wish him the very best in continuing to show that mental strength. He deserves the utmost respect from everyone, not just The Rovers and its fans ( who are the beneficiaries of many very fine displays from Lewis, not confined to his goals alone ).
I trust the Club to do as the CEO has stated.

Echo your sentiments there. Apart from the part about RZs post. Entitled to his thoughts and opinions, just as everyone is.

I'm would be interested to know if the knee which was giving Vaughan grief a few weeks ago, which was then seen by Mr Keatings and giving the ok to continue to play, is the one which is now injured?

I believe it's the left knee that has only been been operated on once.

Or, to put it another way and depress us (and far more importantly, Lewis) even more, both knees now equally dodgy.

You ask ''Why ?'' , Red Zebra.
Because I hoped that you might re-consider the timing and wording on your post.
GP infers that I am against freedom of speech, but I didn't suggest eg that posts like yours should be banned . I did invite you to self-censor.
I felt that your timing was very insensitive and lacked the milk of human kindness.
Maybe you have let off steam about Lewis getting medical treatment at the Club's expense previously and that you didn't think that this was something a responsible employer should do, despite being injured in the course of employment ? Maybe you have railed previously against Lewis being awarded another contract? But to do so (again? ) when the young guy has barely had time to get to grips with his latest catastrophe just seemed wrong-headed.
I also considered that you had proposed a ''remedy'' which I suspect is not legally enforceable (unless you are privy to LV's contract ?) and harked back to times when employees were considered to be chattel.
I don't have any strong feelings such as hate towards you, but your post disappointed and sadden me.
I'm entitled to my opinion too and I have given it, in more detail that I wished to do at this distressing and depressing time.

I felt that your timing was very insensitive and lacked the milk of human kindness. Merely a potential business perspective

Maybe you have let off steam about Lewis getting medical treatment at the Club's expense previously and that you didn't think that this was something a responsible employer should do, despite being injured in the course of employment ? No

Maybe you have railed previously against Lewis being awarded another contract? No But to do so (again? ) when the young guy has barely had time to get to grips with his latest catastrophe just seemed wrong-headed. Again, merely a potential business perspective

I also considered that you had proposed a ''remedy'' which I suspect is not legally enforceable (unless you are privy to LV's contract ?) and harked back to times when employees were considered to be chattel. No, players can still have their contracts mutually terminated for a variety of reasons, it's not illegal

I don't have any strong feelings such as hate towards you, but your post disappointed and sadden me. I'm sorry I saddened you, truly I am, but we live in a terribly cuthroat world where, especially post pandemic, every pound is a prisoner, I was merely postulating a possible business perspective

I'm entitled to my opinion too and I have given it, in more detail that I wished to do at this distressing and depressing time.
I have no issues with your opinion, it is yours and yours to voice. I'm glad you don't hate me. If you felt uncomfortable putting this in an open forum I would have been happy for you to PM me. Please don't think I feel any ill towards Lewis (or you) and as I stated in my initial post" Yes we all love him, and yes, on his day he is a great goal scorer, even more so, if you have been lucky enough to meet him, he is a great lad." My post was just a different perspective based on a potential business model, as we have seen with the Dylan Tait move, money is the driver in football which, to an extent, strengthens the points I made previously. It is important, especially at our level, to get an understanding on the many facets of a football club and outlay v return is just one of them and can be applied to many aspects of running a club, be it printing programmes, pie stall contracts, hospitality and players, favourites or not. I posted an opinion devoid of all emotional attachment, that is all.

Devastating news regarding LV. I was so relieved to hear that he was still able to play on recently despite a slight injury to his knee. I think some tough decisions are needing to be made regarding his future, whatever that might be.

Of course we will honour his contract but the reality is this will continue to happen again and again. I don't agree that it's bad luck. I think it's simply a case of " the knees say no".

He's a young man with the rest of his life ahead of him and to keep putting himself through more months/years of rehab seem a real waste.

Apologies chap, didn't intend to infer that you're against free speech at all. I was merely trying to suggest that there is nothing wrong with anything RZ said, it's just a different, emotionless point of view...which is perfectly valid, even if others don't agree.

Ok ,Red Zebra, we are never going to agree, not least because we have entirely different philosophies
on how a business should be run and how other human beings should be treated.
However, I can't let you away with reinterpreting your own original post! You didn't suggest that John Sim and Lewis Vaughan sit down and agree to ''mutually terminate'' LV's contract. You said that John Sim should say ''enough is enough''.

GP, fair enough, no offence taken!
