According to the Courier it's a goner after the Pars have pulled out.
There's a Courier online link but only to subscribers.

Thoughts?

That takes significant money. Maybe Kelty can join in instead of Dunfermline going forward. Players like Tait, Bowie and Arnott have already shown the benefit of this programme.

IIRC a sum of 200K was mentioned that was required for such a venture, we need to get the buckets out.

400,000 according to Bill Clark.

Rovers' own academy worked reasonably well 10-15 years ago, and didn't cost the club nearly as much, thanks to significant local sponsorship from 4-5 businesses and a lot of hard work from some excellent coaches.

Life has moved on since then, of course, but I would have thought it still quite feasible, with focused and robust management, to run a worthwhile programme on a significantly smaller budget than the figure quoted. One things is for sure - we have to do something to attract young talent to our club, otherwise it'll all disappear down the Halbeath Road (that's if they make a success of their own venture).

Spending up to 250k on a new ticketing system when we are averaging 1500 home fans seems questionable to me when it looks like our youth system has been abandoned for now. Hopefully they will allow the kids from the Raith Rovers community club teams use starks park for free like they did with fife elite. The word is that Pars are effectively taking over the fife elite teams, so all the local talent will be with them. Rovers really need to make a statement on future plans for youth football if these rumours are correct.

The club actually made revenue from Fife Elite for pitch hire.

250k on a new ticketing system?
Are you sure?

I'm not even close to being sure but Bill Clark was quoting 180k and Mglynn I think mentioned 250k. I can think of better ways of spending the cash after tonight's debacle if these figures are remotely accurate.

The club actually made revenue from Fife Elite for pitch hire.

I think they made hee haw revenue. There was a deal made for free pitch hire. The kids from the rovers community clubs who pay subs of roughly 20 quid a month don't get a chance to play at starks unless you pay an additional 25 quid a month to go to other sessions.

The holiday camps were kicked out of starks to balwearie and windmill for the first team which is fair enough but they can't be arsed even sending players along to meet the kids for 20 minutes in the week. Don't get me started lol.

There was a statement at a previous AGM giving the impression that an annual sum of 40K P/A was the remuneration.

I think that is fantasy figures. The money Rovers pay towards the fife elite academy was reduced due to the pitch hire but no revenue made was my understanding. The current plan appears to be to fleece as much money as they can from the community club parents who pay subs every month.

Was that not the cost of the new floodlights?

Put Fife Elite Academy into "Dr Google" and pick out the Courier 5 days ago link and you should be able to read the article without needing a subscription.
