I toyed with the idea of posting that Regan Hendry had signed a Pre-contract with Hamilton as that might have got some of the Raith faithful in a lather..... but decided not to tempt The Fates , even by substituting the name of an English Championship side.

I shouldn't bother. From memory, several players including I think Stevie Tosh, explained in interviews why they were happy to drop down divisions to play for Gretna. Over the years, Rovers have lost many players such as John Baird because we would only offer a 12 month contract to even our better performers.
It seems a bit pointless to find & develop players only to lose them after a year or two because of this short term mentality. Our actual transfers have been a
relative or absolute disaster for us eg Bates (nil), Callachan (£40K chump change) which cost us promotion or Bowie £150K -2 years too soon. Motherwell
sold a 19 y.o. for £1.5m. Hopefully, we will change for the better.

Perhaps you should join the board John, you seem to have it all worked out better than the board do.
