There must be something the gaffer sees in him to bring him back.

I'll be happy to be proved wrong, but I'm gobsmacked at this.
Unless McGlynn is confident of honing his diving technique and Keatings is going to net 20 penalties next season. _________________ Dougie Hill

Aye!
I have to admit to my gob being smacked as well 🥺
It's a strange one going on current form.
But happy to be proved totally wrong.
Over to you Dario, John and Paul.😊 _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

It's certainly a surprise. I never rated him when he played for us before and i don't think he's done anything worth noting since he left. It will be interesting to see how the management plan to play him. He's cut from the same cloth as Scott McBride and Dan Armstrong, looks like he's going to do something but creates nothing.
It might have been better to announce this signing AFTER we've sold season tickets. This will not excite the vast majority for the fan base. |

I can't help but wonder what impact on the morale of our current players the pre contract deals will have. The current bunch that we are relying on to get us promoted will be seeing their own chances of securing employment after May diminish as the budget starts be reallocated. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

Love to be proved wrong but echo most others, bizarre signing and even more bizarre that we have signed him on a pre contract before exploring other options...we don’t even know what division we will be in, can’t see the old firm shaking in their boots at someone who struggled to get a start for Thistle, Ayr and Alloa since being here before (and struggling) |

It's certainly a most unexpected signing ,especially as he's not exactly the first name on the Ayr teamsheet.
But I don't have the negative recollections of his time on loan with us that some do. As I remember him, he was an exciting player, on his day. Inconsistent, sure, but he was young and also wingers are prone to erratic form , especially in their early days.
JMcG and Smudger see something in him and , based on prior signings , that's good enough for me.
If current squad members won't put pen to paper or are spoken for elsewhere , we don't want to be in the position that some other teams have found themselves in ,scrambling around to put a team together, far less a squad.
John Sim and his trusted management team and Board know what they are doing , but they can't be expected to spell it out to the supporters all the time. |

Up to them to put in the performances on the park and win that new contract then, a little bit of pressure might just make them up their game. Can't see us getting to keep Kennedy so Zanatta will fill that slot, Lang I assume will be a replacement for Davidson, and Keatings for either Duku or Ugwu depending on who stays and who goes, I would like to keep Ugwu out of the two _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

Like Nando, Zanatta is a nice chap, but like Nando, seems a little shy of the skill-level required for Rovers position now - let alone if we did, somehow, get promotion!
If we do not get promotion, do we fight for it again next season, or do we look to just fight relegation and get a mid-table spot, like we did when McKinnon left? Hopefully not - because that didn't work out too well!
For all of Kennedy's imperfections, it is hard to imagine Zanatta coming near to matching him. Zanatta's signing seems a strange one - if not a backward step, in terms of what he could and could not add. Unless, of course, it is just to increase the size of the squad and fringe options. Even then, his will be a full time wage that will have to be paid each week. Will he end up out on loan? I think we could have - and should have - done better there, although I hope I am wrong. |

As RZ said it may be a wee nudge to some of them to up their game if they want to stay. Or on the other hand it could be message to those players that have been offered new deals but not YET signed, perhaps making it clear that Rovers are not going to sit back and wait. Effectively the club will NOT be held to ransom for improved contracts.
The DZ signing is out of left field given the current trajectory of both our club and the player concerned. However we know there was an exciting player there a few years ago and perhaps there may still be. His time at Alloa was encouraging enough and his misadventure at at Partick could be put down to a bad move to a poor side. The Ayr move didn't pay off but he joined another team that went on to struggle (hope he 's not made its a hat trick here!!) and we don't know if there was a fall out or extenuating circumstances.
As has been said elsewhere the Baldy Messiah knows his stuff, give him his head on this one he's due it. _________________ Competitive goals: Vaughan 5, Smith 4, Easton 3, Hamilton 2, Dick 1, Gullan 1, Masson 1, Mitchell 1, Mullin 1, Stanton 1, Watson 1, OG's 1, |
