RIP Jake Bolton.
I always felt confident when Jake played that the Rovers could win. I remember a league game against Aberdeen, we were up against it but we won 4-3 if I remember right. Jake was outstanding that night.

We're of a similar generation Tam and you echo my sentiments regarding his ability.
I well remember being gutted as a wee boy when he went to Ipswich having found it difficult to accept Jim Thorburn gone there also. Very similar feelings when the two Willies (Polland and Wallace) went to Hearts.
Was it not Jake's brother George that was leader of the Scottish miners back in the pit strike days of the early 1980's? _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

You are spot on Embow, brother George started early being active in strikes from 1959 and other trade union activities and leading a march in 1992 protesting against mine closures. He didn't like Scargill at all, me too.
I was bit younger back then and I don't remember the earlier first period with the Rovers and all our sales to Ipswich and Hearts.
Jake was also a character at the great Rovers Hall of Fame nights. |

I got big Jakes autograph outside the players door and was amazed at the colour of his fingers! Remember nicotine-stained fingers? His were dark brown. One of my Rovers heroes though. Time is marching on! _________________ Here Wee go again |
