With the Pars, Dundee, ICT and Hearts twice, we could see anywhere from top of the league to zero points for January. It’s vital we get the points from Alloa and QoS to start this tough run, and while QoS are now setting up well for us, Alloa isn’t. |
Hey Tex,
An Alloa win is a single swallow that 'not a summer doth make'. We can take nothing for granted, but have better, more full-time players than they do, and a Boxing Day game should accentuate that advantage.
The pitch and conditions at the Recs, along with our past track record there, are different matters - something we MUST have the mental strength to overcome. Different players now, I know, but the management team has the negative experience of past visits.
OK, it's not a 'must-win' fixture (any more than all fixtures are), but it's a 'should win' - but not the end of the world if we don't. |
I think in the psat we struggled going to their plastic pitch from our lush grass at Starks, but having had the benefit of our own plastic for some time now I think we have a much better chance of getting a result, in fact I think we are more than capable of a decent win down there.
Despite our record, it is actually one of the grounds I enjoyed going to, no matter where you were you could always see what was happening all round the pitch, which wasn't always great for us.
Comfortable 3 points, there you go, jinxed it now _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

I’ve not enjoyed trips to Alloa since the times when the Thistle brewery closed is doors as a brewery.
This is in part down to the coinciding run of poor results we have had there But mainly in the Pisspoor viewing position. Since the old terrace and coo shed was levelled and sold off to KFC away fans have been stuck with a gazebo, a path with a rail or 20ft of rotting terraced railway sleepers in what’s left of the end behind the goal. The best view I’ve enjoyed at this ground in recent years was from the main stand on a cold night when our youth team under Craig Easton (and in particular Louis Appere) ran riot.
Other than the weather permitting superb scenic view there is little to commend the place these days.
I’d still be there on Saturday if I could though! _________________ Competitive goals: Connolly 15, Gullan 7, Easton 7, Vaughan 7, Stanton 6, Akio 3, Brown 3, Dick 3, Connell 2, Goncalves 2, McBride 2 ,McGill 2,OG 2, Frederiksen 1, Lang 1, Nolan 1, |

Hate Alloa, more so since they got that disgrace of a plastic pitch.
Off top of my head, my recent memories are...
Good- A McManus 1st half hat trick in a 3-2 win?
Bad- A midweek cup loss, 2-1 mibee and it felt like minus 40 degrees, one of the coldest I’ve ever felt at a football match.
As for this game. We have a better team than Alloa, we are a full time team, they aren’t.
The surface is a leveller but still feel that if our application is correct then we should be taking 3pts.
If we are to have serious aspirations of competing for play off’s (or better!) then these are the games we need to be winning and certainly not losing. |

A proper dug's day up here.
Strong winds and heavy rain now setting in.
SEPA put out a flood alert on 24th for here today.
Hope you folks are not experiencing similar or maybe later today?
Just hope that the weather won't influence things too much if it isn't postponed and we get the three points any way whatsoever to go third. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Deteriorating fast on the Forth even had to cancel my tennis!!!
Not sure what the direction of the wind is at the ground in Alloa but it’s very open to the elephants.
Good luck whatever way the way wind blows. _________________ Here Wee go again |

Tusk! Tusk! Gents.
As long as we don't forget were there for three points (if it goes ahead) and then we can trumpet that we're in third place.
PS. The coat's no' on as I'm no' goin' out in to the wind and rain, albeit it has abated a bit since earlier on. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

I'd rather that bunch from gorgie skooshed it, they are going to win the league by a country mile anyway and it would give us 2 games in hand to overhaul the dee (albeit one against grannies girners) _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |
