Maybe for not much longer as everyone on mainland Scotland goes into Tier 4 from Boxing Day.
Where to now for professional sports?

I've just heard that Boxing Day is now New Years Day, once Christmas Day is over you go straight to bringing in the new tier.

I wasn't thinking about what took place previously but more thinking that if my Tier 1 status has gone up to 4 and all the islands from 1 to 3 within the next week
and staying there until a review in the middle of January, then how long will it maybe be before the plug is pulled on professional sport with all its travel and close contact, despite having tracking and testing rigourously in place?

There's an echo in here from Football in General thread.😲🥴

Dinnae forget Elgin City and some of the Highland League and Lowland League clubs' attendances.

Back on topic, the impact of Ayr & ICT losing actually has an effect more on the bottom of the table, closing a gap that had been widening between 7th and 8th.

Meanwhile, I can't make up my mind if Dundee going from 3 up to 3-3 in the last quarter against the Dark Side says more about the plight of the Densmen or about the resilience of our rivals. I guess we should try to take the positives - Pars must've been pretty poor to go three down in the first place, and Dundee confidence must now be shot. Happy days!

Seems Dundee had a bigger brain fart than we did against them Laughing
But does show the dark side are capable of making a come back , for us its a case of trying to keep in the top four or there abouts............... if the league lasts to the end

Two points above seventh and three behind second...I think that hoping for top four is a bit optimistic, but it’s a fair enough motivator. The plus side is that we are “on track” for between 36 and 45 points, which should easily keep us safe. My biggest worry is that Morton and the Pars are better than their results against us showed, and if they ever fix their coaching...plus the same might be said for Dundee! The game versus Alloa will be important for us to win outright, and keeping our overall health and performance is important.

Alloa’s win doesn’t play well for us, and Arbroath’s has similar disappointingly motivational impact on their team. On the other hand, ICT losing is nice, as is the collapse of Dundee.

Just checked what I thought and confirmed it. Come 30 Jan, 2021, we will have a much better idea of the task facing us. With the Pars, Dundee, ICT and Hearts twice, we could see anywhere from top of the league to zero points for January. It’s vital we get the points from Alloa and QoS to start this tough run, and while QoS are now setting up well for us, Alloa isn’t.

Hey Tex,
An Alloa win is a single swallow that 'not a summer doth make'. We can take nothing for granted, but have better, more full-time players than they do, and a Boxing Day game should accentuate that advantage.

The pitch and conditions at the Recs, along with our past track record there, are different matters - something we MUST have the mental strength to overcome. Different players now, I know, but the management team has the negative experience of past visits.

OK, it's not a 'must-win' fixture (any more than all fixtures are), but it's a 'should win' - but not the end of the world if we don't.
