While they'll obviously be delighted at finally being promoted back to the more lucrative Championship I don't envy the position the board will find themselves in regarding planning for the new season and setting the budget.

Admission prices.
The biggest part of the budget and it's only reasonable to assume that from this seasons £16 / £10 for Adults the prices will rise for the Championship just as Season tickets would go up from £250 but the burning question is to what?

Dundee were charging £25 for adults to see most (£26 for Utd derby) games and £340 for a season ticket where as the Pars were a bit more reasonable at £20 and £300 for the same.

Seems fairly straight forward then that Rovers could/should logically follow the Pars model and go for the higher end of average at £20 / £14 for walk ups and season books at £300 / £200.
All of which is reasonable until you factor in the ongoing Covid-19 fallout from social distancing.
While presumably there's nothing to prevent Rovers announcing what the walk-up prices will be (and TBH there's no rush for that to be done just yet) there's a major issue with selling season tickets. Around about now the club would normally be announcing Early Bird season ticket deals but how can you do that when you don't know either when the season will start or more crucially how many games will be played.

The number of teams in the league following any reconstruction is but one variable but surely a more worrying one is what if the league start was delayed to October, November or worse January? What price a season ticket for only 9 home games?
How can you negotiate new/resigning deals for guys when you can't set the budget?
Imagine signing a player on a 2 year deal only for the nightmare scenario of being relegated back to the seaside league after effectively only half a season?

No wonder Bill Clark (and the rest of the chairmen I'd imagine) want it all settled as soon as possible regarding any reconstruction but the start of the new season is perhaps the bigger issue and one which is out of footballs hands.

Just out of idle curiosity if there can't be an early bird scheme I wonder if many of us would consider putting down a deposit on a season ticket when the final cost remained unknown?

It must be an absolute nightmare trying to steer a decent financial path through all the pitfall outlined.

I think we also need to factor in the economic impact of the covid pandemic on the economy and how much people will have to spend.

In reply to Castle and badpress139, I'll stab a guess and say sometime in September if we're very lucky.
Long, long way to go before any form of group gathering (large or small) can be allowed.
I just hope we're one of the clubs to survive. It's likely that quite a number won't and they're likely to be the ones in the middle to large range. I think the small part time ones with far fewer overheads may just about scrape through to the other side of this

Realistically until there is a vaccine then you can’t open up events to big crowds and a vaccine could be at best maybe a year away if we are lucky

Obviously different with regards to big crowds/mass gatherings but,it,ll be interesting how they,ll get round social distancing to get planes back uo in the sky again,get schools back.The list is endless

It's hard to see football being played this side of Xmas to be honest. There are so many variables at play. Even when the virus does become contained, its completely unknown how the lifting of measures will react with the virus. Not to mention you have the economic impact on the fans once this is all over, who will be able to afford going to the football?

I can see the focus shifting towards putting things in deep freeze until we can resume football again, whenever that may be.

Ironically, clubs like Rovers may be one of the ones to survive this. We have learnt how to scrape by for years. It's clubs like Aberdeen who are now losing £1m+ per month with zero income who I would worry for.

Could build some nice flats central to Glasgow and near key transport hubs such as M8 and Glasgow airport if one club with dicey financial practices were to go under.

Agree with most of above but think there might be a role for services such as Raith TV if leagues do go ahead this year. Can't see how social distancing could be monitored with current seating set up and entrance facilities that we have now - and of course there are the lavvies. Might have to introduce hot water, soap and hand driers? A step too far I hear you say.

It's difficult to imagine social distancing being maintained when a last minute winner against the Pars flies into the onion bag.
