Quote: | Clintons was responding to reports on Sunday that it wanted to close 66 out of 332 shops, with landlords slashing rents on most of the other stores. | I think we can all guess one of the stores among the 66 there then?
Did the Kirkcaldy one not close for a while already then re-open again, or is my memory playing tricks with me again? |

Bonmarche closing. Some mob called 15-17 taking over the Debenhams store once they close down so at least that wont be another empty shop plus Bob and Berts now open in the old Next shop. However cant see either improving footfall
That wont happen until the promenade is finished _________________ THERES FIVE OF ME |

That the same promende they spent over £100,000 on about 25 years ago as part of the Key ring-road idea?
Cant blame them really, the amount of traffic is a lot less with a dead high st. _________________ Competitive goals: Vaughan 5, Smith 4, Easton 3, Hamilton 2, Dick 1, Gullan 1, Masson 1, Mitchell 1, Mullin 1, Stanton 1, Watson 1, OG's 1, |

It is indeed

But according to the councillers regeneration of the prom back to a single carriageway along with muted metered parking bays will increase footfall on the dead high street _________________ THERES FIVE OF ME |

Good article Biggles - the future eh? Portobello is similar in business make up but has recently suffered because of a road replacement project. _________________ Here Wee go again |

Amazing that some roaster on the General thread thinks Rovers should have an all year round shop in the Mercat!
Apparently Burtons and Dorothy Perkings are next to leave with a pub going in their place according to the Courier. _________________ Dougie Hill

Did I miss Argos closing? Yes, I know most shops are 'closed' just now, but I mean permanently closed. I see they are still delivering and went to order a keyboard and the Kirkcaldy store doesn't even come up as an option anywhere on their site. |

Most search results show a stock clearance sale was underway. “Official” link seems to say closed temporarily, but I suspect it’s done. No actual idea, but the Fife stores were under the gun late last year. |

It runs in my mind that Argos was bought over by Sainsbury's a few months back, so it's probably the case that Argos will actually operate from within Sainsbury's store at the retail park. _________________ Dougie Hill

Here you go, folks.
Home Retail Group
In April 2016, Argos' parent Home Retail Group agreed to a £1.4 billion takeover by Sainsbury's, following a bidding war between the supermarket chain and South African conglomerate Steinhoff International. The acquisition was completed on 2 September 2016. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Yes, Argos has small operations inside a number of Sainsbury's. |

So I'd imagine if the Kirkcaldy Sainsbury's did this, you wouldn't be able to order and pick something up on the same day. Basically rendering the whole USP of the place pointless? They were never the cheapest, but I've given them a decent amount of business over the years due to the proximity and convenience. Shame if it's gone for good. |

From today's news updates.
Sainsbury's has been accused of exploiting a loophole to keep Argos outlets open during the UK lockdown.
Under government restrictions, all non-essential shops have been closed for the past week. As supermarkets are an exception, Argos concessions within Sainsbury's shops remain open.
Sainsbury's said people can only buy items at the in-store Argos outlets if they have already paid for them online.
"Like many other online retailers, we are selling essential products for the millions of people now living and working entirely from home," a Sainsbury's spokesperson told the BBC.
"We are then strongly advising customers to have these delivered to their homes. We also have an option to collect from Sainsbury's supermarkets while doing an essential food shop." _________________ Talk on! Talk on!
