Well remember (as a committee member of the village team) playing Back in the Highland Amateur Cup 15 years ago. Quarter final match played in Ullapool because Back were drawn at home. Early kick off so they could get the ferry back home in afternoon.
Refreshments provided by the home club so it was pies, sandwiches etc. in The Arches after the game. We lost 3-2 after being 2 down in first fifteen minutes. One of our lads smacked a header off the bar in the dying minutes for what would have been a deserved equaliser but not to be.
Back went on to win the Cup that year.
The Highland Amateur has been dominated by Caithness clubs over the years but the Western Isles guys have always had a strong presence. Orkney and Shetland also now featuring.
Wasn't it Back FC that Andy Gray played for when a young lad before finding himself at Dundee Utd, Everton, Scotland, Sky tele punditry?
Talk on! Talk on!
You'll never talk alone.
