Real ale festival being held in the Masonic Lodge in Dysart. It will be held between Friday 11th of May and Sunday 13th May. Non Masonic people more than welcome to attend as monies raised will be used for various charities. Entry fee is £10 with which you receive two or three tokens with which you use to purchase drinks, snacks etc. A half pint is £1.25 and a pint £2.50.

Starts about 6pm on the Friday till 11ish. On the Saturday evening there is also a race night if you are interested in them. For non - ale drinkers there will be lager, guiness, wine and spirits available as well. There will also be some ciders available with the ales also priced the same as the ales.

Will post what ales are coming as soo as I find out.

* BUMP *

People should really get along to this as there is always a great selection of ales and ciders on.

As has been previously said - You don't need to be a mason to go along. I'm not, as are the majority who attend and go along and enjoy it every year.

Was there last night 13 ales on tap four of which were stouts/porters very tasty. Managed to do about eight or nine half-pints some were excellent others just good but that is dependent on your taste.

Tonight in the lodge as well as ale tasting there is a race night for those that like a flutter. There is also a tombola being run. As has been said in the past all money raised will be passed on to various charities. As an example from last years festival the Dysart lodge gave Victoria Hospital over £1600 for equipment.

So if you are free this afternoon or evening come along and sample an ale or three and if you don't like these there are lagers and various bottles of beers,bud,coors etc. It's also on tomorrow from 12ish until late. Today I think it is 12ish as well. Razz

Is going to an ale festival and drinking Coors and Bud not on a par with going to a steakhouse and eating a roll on corned beef?

Some people go to these charitable events to support them and they may not drink ales so you accomodate them with what they may prefer. It's not rocket science you know but there are people who like to knock what other are trying to do to raise money for worthwhile causes.

Is there a reason for it being held in a masonic lodge?
