Well it is Media, so I'm putting it in the media section, but feel free to move it mods.
Just a question for the guys behind the interviews/post match production - Do we not speak to opposing managers or players anymore?
I am sure Rovers fans happily hang on every word of our manager but is it not possible or within the media laws to get the views of opposing managers or players. Okay so today would have been a hard one to take but I do like to hear both sides of the argument, and are the guys not allowed to speak to our players post match either?
If there are some broadcasting rights issues then I understand but it would just be great to maybe get a few sound bites straight after the game rather than a slightly sanitised interview with the gaffer. I know there are player interviews, but I kinda like the straight off the park blood, sweat and snotters footage which often gives you a wee bit of a better insight to the real gut feeling of the interviewee.
I know the guys to a great job of producing the material that they do, doesn't mean I can't ask for more though _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

Yeah I agree, for some reason I quite enjoyed hearing the other side of the story. |

I suppose and example me be the that today would have been a good opportunity to speak to Craigen (or Baird or Watson).
It would have been god also to hear from Houston. I thought we dominated certain portions of the game without relaying threatening - it would be interesting to see if he saw it the same. |

I remember Billy Reid speaking to Raith TV after a game against Hamilton 3 or 4 seasons back and Lennon spoke after a league cup tie and the Brendanbeu probably around the same time.
Unfortunately it's more likely the opposition will only want to speak to us after hosing us. _________________ Dougie Hill

Hi lads, I will try to answer this.
There are a few different things which have led to us taking the decision to focus on our own team. The first thing is the change in location for the interviews, we used to have a prime spot right next to the 2 dressings rooms (boot room) so getting Ally or Niall to grab players/manager for a word was quite easy. In the 8 or 9 seasons I have helped out only one manager has ever refused an interview.
The area we used to use is now a players lounge so we are in a new location. This means we have to juggle time with the proper journalists so our focus is always on making sure we get our own manager rather than risk being midway through an opposition interview and hold up our guys.
Rovers people have always been brilliant with Raith TV so we want to repay that respect, especially after a loss when there is no appetite for people to wait around.
At one point we could just edit the main interview with the pro journalists throwing in a few questions but this is now scorned upon as we are seen to be taking the pros copy before they get it in print. At Starks Park the journalists have always been thoroughly decent so again we play ball with their position.
Our experience is that if we do opposition interviews intermittently then we get bogged down with negative feedback and/or conspiracy theories when we don't have one.
Opposition teams by and large have their own service now which wasn't always the case, in fact we were one of the first and IMO one of the best sites for giving free coverage so we need to tread lightly when folk know we will be cutting their grass by giving interviews out without subscription.
The other sites in our division have been great with us and there is a sense of people helping each other out so we again respect their approach.
We accept the need to broaden post match and will be trying to ensure we get through the whole squad in post match interviews. The addition of a window into the development squad is part of this idea and we are fortunate Craig Easton is so positive about Raith TV.
Pre match midweek and post match there are just 2 people who have a fair bit of juggling to do. For our cameraman he has to edit interviews and the highlights package as well as promos etc plus the support he offers the club directly via the detail provided for analysis. For the guy with the mic people can be critical expecting us to offer the type of analytical "taking people to task" interviews that sky, BBC and press shy away from so it's a fine line between volunteering time and volunteering for a Facebook kicking if you miss the mark!!
We also have friends and family waiting patiently post match as we track down interviews, they are the glue for us all as we couldn't do the task if they didn't have such generous amounts of patience. I recall my family standing in the car park at Cappielow when I got to the car at 6pm, the floodlights had gone out and the journalists had left but we were there for John when he was available. The fact my gang had stood in the cold as they didn't want to interupt me for the car key is something else. We need to lean on them but not take advantage of good will.....
A long winded reply but I hope this gives an idea of the level of tact involved in keeping the right side of trying to give fans what they want while making sue we don't embarrass Raith Rovers in any way. |

Excellent summary of the situation Davie.
Very grateful, folks, for the coverage we get and the input in whatever form everybody (including car park detainees!) gives to this superb service. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Davie, that's all very well and good but...
Only joking
Appreciate your candor and the history and reasoning behind they way you approach things, and it was in no way a criticism merely a request that, if possible, you could expand things a little. Clearly current logistics don't allow for that and perhaps that is something that could be discussed with the club.
Thanks again for the insightful reply. _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

Can't say I'm overly bothered about hearing from opposition managers/players. Raith TV do a brilliant job for very little money over the course of a season.
Thanks for that reply Davie. |

Yeah I would agree with that. Listening to the opposition would be bottom of the pile for me. _________________ If I were a fighter I'd probably kick your ass. |

Offering a whole 90 minute relay of Montrose game for £1!
https://mobile.twitter.com/RaithTV/status/1221462445513900032
Hope fans dinnae start sitting in the house and wait for further match replays at a £1!
A fair bit cheaper than match admission or season ticket price per game.
Seriously, this is yet another step by the Raith TV folks to provide another fine service for the fans, particularly those scattered around the UK who can't get the live match streaming on the day.
Well done everyone and hope it grows as the games go by. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Agree with Vinnie - way too cheap - £5 live on the day - so at least £3 per view unless they can get some sponsors to advertise their wares at the beginning, half time and full time - just a sound bite or a short ad. _________________ Here Wee go again |

As with most new products they are cheaper to start with to gauge demand, if there is enough demand then they will offer it every week for a slightly higher price |
