The 8th annual Fife's Finest 7-a-side tournament is taking place at Balwearie High School on Saturday 24th May, 12pm kick-off.
I am looking for teams who would like to take part, although teams who played last year will get first refusal as there are limited spaces.
Cost is £50 per team and the format will be 2 leagues of 6 teams playing 10 minute matches, with the top 4 in each group progressing to the quarter-finals.
All money raised will go to the Maggie's Centre in Kirkcaldy.
PM me if you have a team who would like to take part. |

The competition was won by team Adam Vallot FC. Very worthy winners and a good speech by the captain post match.
Well done to the organisers and everyone involved. The standard of play was a big improvement on last year with some good football on display. (Apart from the chap who broke the headmasters window with a wayward shot!!)
The Ramsden Cup was a big attraction for many in the 200 Club after the event with lots of kids (and a few big kids) having their photos taken.
Great day had by all and hopefully a few quid raised for a very worthwhile cause. |

I agree.
A great day.
Unfortunately the 200 club came up a wee bit short as we had to go down the Dunfermline route - ie get rid of all our high earners from last year and play a team of young laddies! _________________ Dougie Hill

Is there no way this could get extended next year? Maybe play on Starks park with more teams? |

Too many limitations, conditions and factors outside our control to get it at Stark's Park - the closest we got was 2 years ago when we had the pitch booked and it rained constantly the day before, leaving us having to relocate to Balwearie High at a day's notice.
From an organisational view, I need a confirmed date and a guarantee for the pitch which the club cannot give me for various reasons -we can't have the pitch during the season and we can only get it between the season finishing and the pitch being relayed which is not only a very tight window, but we can never be sure when the season will finish due to the playoffs.
Even if we were to get it during the season, the groundsman isn't keen on us wearing studs for the protection of the pitch and if we can't wear studs the we're relying on good weather.
However, if that were to change then I'd definitely look into it!
As for extending the tournament - we used to have 15-18 teams take part but for various reasons a lot of teams don't play anymore (probably age) plus there's limitations to how much I can organise myself! For the record, I personally invited 25 teams this year and only got 12 - usually we publicise via RRFC and the Fife Free Press. No point extending if there's no interest. |

I know its difficult to orgonise these things and well done soundwave .
Perhaps when on away days fans groups from other teams could be approached in our league and invited as well . Hibs fans for example as they are very welcoming when we have visited recently.i know some cowdenbeath fans play as well. _________________ Only on fan talk can supporters find a negative in a 5-0 win. 🤔 |

The tournament used to be with other supporters teams, we regularly had albion rovers, Cowdenbeath, Dunfermline and livingston in the past along with half a dozen rovers supporters teams but most have disbanded now as attendances dwindle |

A few teams that played previously that it have mates involved in and also my team I put in now refuse to take part due to the fact it's on the sand astro turf instead of the 3G at kirkcaldy high.
But the price of the 3G surfaces now a days to rent I don't play you for moving it if that why it was moved. |
