I am in the process of organising next years gig and despite all the moans and groans about things this one will go ahead.I now have to decide the dates as it is going to be a saturday and a sunday in august. The initial idea is for the saturday night to POSSIBLY be a scottish night with acts on stage 6pm to 10pm.There will then be dj`s on afterwards who will also be part of the rock the rovers event but they wont play scottish music unless i have a word. On the sunday we will have the usual rtr gig albeit there wont be as much acts on and it will start a bit later than other years. This is to give folk who are coming to the sunday gig celebration time to recover after the night before escapades. There will be either 16 or 18 acts on with 16 looking likely at this moment in time. The pricing will be £10 for a day pass either saturday or sunday with a weekend pass being priced at £15 which includes the dj`s set on saturday.
I am now going to run a poll to see what dates folk think it should be on as i have had a debate over it with the management at kittys.Initially i wanted it to be the weekend of AUGUST 23rd/24th which for some is a bank holiday. The lads at kittys agree this would be best but we also think not everyone gets this bank holiday. So the other date is AUGUST 30th/31st whilst not a bank holiday weekend it is pay week as far as i know which will suit most folk who want to go.Once i get the results from the poll this week i will go and speak to the lads at kittys and confirm the date next weekend.Cheers. _________________ YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE

I think the 30th &31st would be best mate . There is a lot of games on as well in August with cup games , people buying season tickets , kids back to school etc etc .
Having it on a pay day weekend would be best .
" Micky 9's on for 9pm please "

Theres a possibility i can get the MAY BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND but wont know for sure for a day or 2 yet.The only problem could be its last game of the season and folk going to livi may not want to come along that saturday night.Theres also the problem that those of us working may have to decide rovers or rock the rovers but knowing my lot BOTH. _________________ YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE

Have you asked the Club what would be the best date for them to assist you? That would be best approach mate ,sort it early with the Club so everyone got a heads up and and theres nil dissapointed with Club involvement. 10 Years thats iconic...its got to be a big event and the Club will help i'm sure. _________________ supportrovers@aol.co.uk

Add those two suggestions together and we have an all round winner,. _________________ Competitive goals: Easton 5, Vaughan 5, Smith 4, Hamilton 2, Dick 1, Gullan 1, Masson 1, Mitchell 1, Mullin 1, Stanton 1, Watson 1, OG's 1, |

I will speak to the club if need be but they have never shown any interest in when the gig is staged so i doubt they will this time.I would like to think someone will contact me to offer their help but we shall.Next year if i have my sums correct and i dont get some idiot telling me about anniversaries and gigs blah blah blah it will be 20 years since we won the coca cola cup.Now if this is corect and i am led to believe it is then i hope to get some of the legends along for a double celebration. Now i know we won the cup on the 27th of november 1994 and rtr is going to be in may or august but why not celebrate it all at the same time. Its early stages and it may not happen but its an idea to which i hope ally g will help if needed to.Would folk be more up for a may weekend rock the rovers as a one off rather than august ? _________________ YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE
