How about.. we setup a fantalk fund between now and August.. Everyone on the site - and I mean EVERYONE, donates say 10 quid (or more if you want)..at start of August with the money raised the club give the equivalent amount in season tickets to some primary school kids who otherwise could not afford to come to every game or whatever.. Just say we get 600 quid.. thats about 20 more people potentially coming through for the Rovers.. Club benefits in getting some cash, some youngsters benefit in getting a free season of joyous football to watch...

any interest ? I will set the ball rolling with 300 quid donation if there is a way to make this happen..

If everyone on this list gave a tenner, it would raise nearly 28,000 quid. Yes, I know some registered names are not real supporters and some don't have the means. Just a thought though.

I might think about doing this.

I very generous offer Ri2ath but I'm not sure your idea will necesarry work because of the following reasons

1. The club have previously handed out fairly large numbers of free tickets to different primary schools at different times, however even handing out say 100 free tickets doesnt guarantee that anything like 100 people will use them.

2. The club have also handed out free season tickets, this system has been abused and again because they were free and so many were given out does not mean that all these free tickets were used everyweek

The point I'm trying to make is that you could be waisting your cash by say buying 50 tickets and them being handed out to individuals who may not attend at the games anyway.

How about buying so many tickets say 100 for arguments sake, and 50 of them being left either at the club shop and any kid who buys something on match day is given a free ticket to get into the game as long as there are tickets left, or leave them at the turnstyles and the first 50 who come in with a full paying adult gets a ticket for that game.

At least using either of these methods none of your money will be wasted on non attending ticket holders and money comes into the club either through the shop or turnstyles and it may encourage people to come earlier to get the free tickets ( and spend more on pies etc)

They are not free tickets... 'we' are buying them.. The club get the money, the kids get the season tickets.. If the kids do not go to some of the games, like any season ticket holder, then thats their perogative, I dont go to every game either. The club still get the season ticket money up front. If the kids go to at least a few of the games and drag a parent along, then even better. Even better if it get's them hooked on the Rovers.

No I know they are not free tickets, but the point I was trying to make (obviously not very well) was that if tickets are to be bought we want them to be used every week, firstly to get more fans at the game and secondly to generate income for the club.

The club has tried in the past with free tickets for kids never mind with ones bought by the fans forum and it has not really worked. So you really want to maximise the affect the tickets to make sure they are used every week. By handing out tickets to kids who may not attend the games does not maximise the affect of the tickets so I was suggesting ways of making sure that every ticket bought would guarantee a bum on a seat every week.

Hope thats a bit clearer

Couple of very good points here but one of the reasons why many of these kids maybe don't come is, they will obviously need to be supervised by parents/guardians etc who will have to still pay £17 to get in, then buy the youngsters food/drinks etc so in turn its not financially viable for these parents to still bring kids even if the kids are getting in for free.

The club should maybe encourage these free tickets by allowing accompanying adults entry for £10 at very maximum (Only viable for parents with a selected child ticket). This would still allow for a fairly cheap day to the game, encourage parents to bring the children and add maybe 100/200 fans at a game.

The club wont be losing any money doing this as the parents will paying £10 extra each that the club wouldn't be getting anyway and it will encourage youngsters to come back if they enjoy the game.

I mind being lifted over the old turnstiles when I was a kid which encouraged my dad to take me as I enjoyed it and the whole matchday experience was very cheap.

Also I would just like to add that the club are pretty poor at promoting good things they are doing like handing out these tickets, entry for £5 etc. Telling fans 2/3 before a game is pretty lazy and poor form IMO and they really need to look at promoting these things weeks in advance via the FFP, flyers etc etc.

I did that for a couple of seasons through my rtr fund until the club decided to give them away free last year so that was that.

217 Views and no interest. I will scrap the proposal due to apathy / no interest.

It's a very good idea in principle- maybe just needs a bit of meat on the bones as to how it would work. There's always a danger that some people deliberately don't buy a kids season ticket in the hope of snaffling a free one, and there's the debate about who exactly deserves one, eg if they're from a household which spends £500 bankrolling the Old Firm, Man Utd and Chelsea via a Sky Sports subscription, do they really qualify as someone who can't afford a kids season ticket?

Nothing to do with apathy/no interets.Like possibly many others the reason I have shown no interest is a due to not having a spare tenner after forking out for a season ticket for myself and son

Not accusing you of anything but that reads like you're having a go at the club on that one?

I took it a face value that as the club were giving them away free then FF weren't in a position to buy them and hand them out.

I'd still like to see something like your plan done though and would chip in as you described.

I was trying not to but i organised the free season tickets before as a wee half time draw for the kids. Then the club come out and said the primary kids tickets were going to be free for the season so it scuppered me a bit.So i just decided to do it anyway as it was all organised and 10 kids came on to the hallowed turf to get a ticket and raith goodie bag.It was great that the club did what they did but a little communication would go a long way and thats where fan reps should come in.Anyway its in the past and the kids enjoyed it while it lasted what i done but i wont do it again.Scotty the money came from rock the rovers [not fifes finest as they do other things]so the club was giving me something in return for the money that was raised at the gig.Same as last year when i sponsored 4 players and gave the shirts to charities that we have sponsored through rtr.I wont be doing that this year either but may do something else.
