I have made a suggestion to the board about the club setting up a community foundation to run alongside the club.They are going to make a few enquiries and take it from there.The idea is for it to be a self funded community charitable foundation under the clubs name that will work with the local community.What do folk think ? could it work ? because as far as i am concerned we dont do nearly enough in that side of things.Its only a suggestion and one of the reasons i suggested this is we did our hospital visits this year,there was no publicity about it.It wasnt done for that it was done to cheer up the kids and folk suffering at the time of year.I cant be bothered with any abuse of this idea as its only an idea and the board would need to endorse it so keep answers sensible.THANKS.

SoW going the extra mile to do things for the club all the time! Why doesn't the club have a liaison to help you in the tasks, as if it is to succeed they need to help and communicate with you.

SoW, you do a heckuva lot off your bat, the least the club can do is to support you and help your ideas get off the ground. Hopefully they do so and get someone in to run this side of things. Doesn't have to be full time, could benefit students needing work placements alongside an experienced administrator.

Great idea definitely.

I think the whole idea is for the club to take the lead here .
A lot of people feel the same way in regards to this . this could be used in such a way to help many people in lots of different ways , kids , unemployed , small local charity's .

When I have been at the rovers I have always felt that disabled access and care for disabled supporters has been a bit of an after thought , perhaps a foundation such as this could address so of the clubs short comings within the community . Good shout , I just hope someone will take it on , as this is what we should be doing as a family/community club .

Thanks for the feedback and i just feel that something has to be done as there is a lot of good work being done in the community that no one knows about.There is a lot of work that can be done in the community that doesnt get done.I hope the club do take a lead in this but we shall see as i think they think it will cost them money or affect fundraising which it wont.We have a big enough fan base to do this so if it takes off then they will be consulted as to who can help or get involved.Is there anyone on here who would be interested or has the expertise in helping to set it up.Just asking so as to gauge interest from fantalk world.

I am restricted due to work commitments as you know , however I am always happy to help with a donation . This would help get a fund going and the ball rolling . Smile

, if my shift rotations change I would try to help a bit more .

They prob will be involved if they are interested as dave wann is going to speak to them thats if the forum is still going.They should be helping but the only reason i suggested it is the because i organise the visits at xmas and have done a few other things aswell.This type of group was discussed as part of the reclaim the rovers campaign but never really took off as those involved went different ways.Dave somerville ended up chairman, tom philips ended up a director,davie hancock does raith tv so i am the only one left.Alan traynor was involved for a spell aswell but due to different things couldnt commit although i would hope he would get involved if this took off.Ideally the club would take it on and run it which would suit me but we shall see.I just put the idea in their heads.You are right ask vinnie no probs and thanks for that.
