We've lost one league game all season, have the best goal difference and best defensive record of any team in the league. We should be absolutely delighted about this, and singing the praises of the team that have got us there. If I was McGurn, O'Connor or McGlynn - or any other member of the squad for that matter - and I came on to Fantalk I'd have one of two reactions to this thread... I'd either soil myself laughing, or I'd want to throw the PC through the window in disgust.
Thanks for living up to the stereotype of whinging Fifers guys, you've done yourselves proud. |
Is it not just banter ? |

O Conner had ever right to start agains Peterhead and Brechin. He had kept 2 clean sheets hadn't he???!!!! |

I think both keepers are excellent shot-stoppers but both look a bit suspect from crosses. I rememember McGurn gifting Alloa a goal at the Rec when dropping a crossed ball and O'Connor was all over the place for both Brechin's goals on Saturday.
O'Connor has made some excellent saves in the 3 games he has been in but i'd say McGurn is the slightly more reliable keeper so I would prefer he was back in for the Alloa game. |

Yet if he had dropped O'Connor after keeping two clean cheets and McGurn had made a howler McGlynn would be getting abuse for changing keepers....
Top of the league and unbeaten at home yet still fantalk is a moaning bitchfest!!!
Christ some of you love to find reasons to moan!!! |

Have to say that i never intended this thread to be disrespectful, my aim was to find out if the fans thought we had a clear number 1. I never intended to rile anyone up, i was purely intrested in the fans opinion.
At the end of the day we shoulld all get behind whoever McGlynn chooses as his first choice but by some of the responses on here it does make you think twice about starting a thread or even posting on fantalk.
Like all rovers fans should be i am delighted at the progress the club has made so far this term and long may it continue!!! _________________ We hate sh%4y litte east fife..... |

Its all about opinions thats what a forum is for.
Personally i dont think there is much between either of them. I am thankfull we have TWO reasonable goalies and a darned good youngster backing them up. |

Well said
Are some poeple forgetting that we are in the 2nd division so we are not gonna get the perfect keeper, I think McGurn is probably the best keeper I have seen this season and Gary O does not bad for this level
If we were in the 1st division I'd still be happy with McGurn, not so much O'Conner but as I said we have the right players fo this level |

I think O'conner should be second choice, don't get me wrong, his reaction saves have been great but I don't trust him with high balls and am a bit nervous about the way he comes off his line, a lob waiting to happen. Still both are better than what we had last season, that first play off game against Airdrie was unforgivable. _________________ Yesterday I woke up sucking a lemon. |

While I dont like threads like this either I very much doubt that any player will get upset at what the fans think.
Dealing with derogatory remarks or opinions are part and parcel of being in the entertainment industry and the players would probably rather do their talking on the pitch. Look at Davo for instance, some of the stuff that has been said about him...... water off a ducks back, gets on with doing what he gets paid for.
Gary O'Connor has done very well when he's deputised for McGurn and to be honest I couldn't care less who is in between the sticks as long as we finish top come the end of the season. |

The debate is whether or not he should automatically regain his place after injury if the back-up keeper has played well. As they say, "form is temporary, class is permanent" - I'd play the Number 1 at every available opportunity, regardless of the second choice keeper's performance. |
Correct. O'Connor played very well against East Fife and just because McGurn is fit doesnt mean he just walks back in the team. McGurn will always be my number 1 choice but as long as O'Connor is playin well too then he keeps the jersey. _________________ No player is bigger than the club!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
