You have probably already done this , but have you spoken to the web team . They could maybe play a small part of the song when people go to raithrovers.net on the front page . It may raise awareness |

I have already emailed the laura at the club with all the details and so far its not on the site.Jim foy had a banner on the last raith website which was a link to i-tunes.I have also spoke to folk who work at the fife free press and still nothing has been put in the paper. When the song was first on sale i sent emails to the daily record and courier who didnt even have the courtesy to reply to me.I organised and paid for 5000 flyers which grant at styx organised to get done for me.We started handing them out last week and i know it was the last home game but the flyers are done so they can be used any time of the year. Its on a few websites aswell so i cant do any more than whats already been done. Its not the best song in the world but its a fundraiser which i hoped would still get support for it but it hasnt happened. _________________ YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE

I hate to admit this but since we were talking about it i have just downloaded it .
And to be honest this is the first time i have relay listened to it properly , I can see why you are a bit pissed at the lack of support as i can see from listening to it that alot of work has gone into the reworking of the song and recording .
When it has been played on the tannoy at starks it has not done the song justice , as the clubs P.A . is about as good as an old gramophone , playing a warped 45, ( only the more mature poster will know what i mean ) |

There was a lot of work done in setting it up and maybe i should have done it in conjunction with the club and charities which may have helped sell or publicise it better.I just assumed that because of who it was for it would be well supported any way no matter how good or bad it was.I have been wrong in that respect. _________________ YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE

People have bought it but its just unfortunate that due to poor publicity [maybe my fault]not enough have so far to make it a success.I am hopeful that when it comes to christmas i may be in a position to hand over a few quid to the 3 causes. _________________ YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE

In this past season, fans will have noticed an update to the Rovers’ anthem played at each home game, as the classic Geordie Munro was given a modern makeover. Many people from within the club and local community came together to record the hit, in the hopes of raising spirits as well as some money for good causes.
The new version of the old favourite was recorded last summer at the studios of Adam Smith College in Glenrothes with assistance from the students and staff. The idea was dreamt up by Raith fan, Gavin Quinn, after a conversation with fellow Rovers supporter and popular local musician, Dennis Alexander, who sings on the track.
Gavin explained, “Dennis and myself decided that a good way to raise money for the club, along with two charities that I support – the Children’s Ward at Victoria Hospital and healthcare provider C.H.A.S. – would be to record an updated version of Geordie Munro. We had a few meetings to discuss the best way to do it and Dennis, in conjunction with Adam Wheldon who was a student at the college, came up with a few different versions. After that, we went into the studios and put the song together.”
As well as Dennis Alexander, the song also features the singing talents of Andy Chung, Peter Livingston, Rick Steele and Jocelyn and Jackie Storrar.
Some well-known faces were also happy to help out. Former referee, John Rowbotham, was on hand to sing on the chorus, along with Councillor and Raith fan, Judy Hamilton, and also Marilyn Livingston. The players were represented by Scott McBride, while director Tom Phillips and fan director Dave Wann were also involved, along with the website match reporter, John Mainland.
The singers were accompanied by three members of the Kirkcaldy and District Pipe Band plus David Bruce on bass guitar and James Coutts on the accordion.
Speaking after the recording, Gavin said, “We had a great time and would like to thank everyone who helped out, as well as to everyone connected with the college for their great support. We know it won’t make it to number one but we did it for fun and, most importantly, to raise funds for some great causes.”
The song is still available to download. You can purchase it either on Amazon.co.uk (includes a 30-sec preview) or iTunes for just 79p. All proceeds go to the Children’s Ward at Victoria Hospital, C.H.A.S and Raith Rovers.
Thanks to everyone that organised and took part in the recording, and the fans that have bought the song so far.
come on folks it's only 79p |
