Embow, I absolutely agree with your appreciation of the Pars coming back into our Division. Although sadly, I am sure there are some on this platform, who do not? |

Agree - good for our league - I was a (wee) bit disappointed when they went down and I am a (wee) bit happy they are coming back up - also hope Falkirk come up - just good for the finances.
Share this with you lads and lassies - several years ago I was in an intensive care unit after a heart attack - my wife was keeping me informed of the score in the pars game - maybe even on RaithTV commentary - can't remember - apparently my measurements all started to improve after the final result of 2-1 Rovers was confirmed. Possibly 2009 - anyone remember the game?

Sunday, 2 January, 2011 is the only 2-1 Raith vs Dunfermline scoreline I see…lots of the opposite. |

Congratulations to the Pars! Some much needed gate money for us for next season. Pains me to say it, but the Pars are showing us how it's done!
Not too sure about Falkirk though. They would bring good crowds too, but I have a feeling Airdrie will see them off on the play-offs. |

Doubtless they (Pars) will bring more than Cove but should Falkirk or Airdrie win promotion through the play-off I'd question how much more they'd bring than Hamilton. Hamilton fans travelled in decent numbers (considering) this season. I can't see massive numbers coming from any of them.
Should we get the Pars at SP in the 1st dry of the season (we'd also get the NY derby too) then we could well see a fairly full North stand but the halcyon days of the 1990's when the Pars would bring 4-5k and Airdrie and Falkirk bring 2-3k are I feel a long time gone.

I enjoy matches against them, especially when we win, but would rather not play them knowing they are in a lower league. |

I tend to agree with you.
I found the derby matches last season distinctly underwhelming, Spencer's last minute equaliser aside.
They only brought about 600 to the midweek game and the New Year game was pretty much a non-event due to covid crowd restrictions.
Maybe when we have a manager who can go to East End, play on the front foot and attack them from the off, for the first time in a decade and a half, I might feel differently about it.

I just hope they don’t have a large pot of dosh to spend / strengthen their team. 
Hopefully the gate money will be a lot better with them in the same league now.
That said, I would trade money for points in a jiffy.
As much as I dislike them , there is a great atmosphere, particularly if we are humping them.🙏🏻😁.
Leaving a match crying my eyes out ain’t so great though I must admit.

I;m on this side of the fence too. In any other line of business, any given prganisation does not wish success upon their closest or most local rival. And in the bigger picture, that should be the stance in Fife football too.
Wishing to see the Pars succeed, just so that we can earn a few extra quid from a couple of bigger gates next season is, in my opinion, a very narrow, short-term view. A necessary part of any ROVERS success is the failure of others around us, especially local rivals.
Bigger picture, we should want to see Pars crash and burn, so that we can then pick up their disenfranchised or disillusioned football fans (same with East Fife, Cowden & Kelty), grow our own base, and succeed at a higher level with a broader base.
Now, I know that's not actually going to happen, not next season anyway  - but ultimately, the aim is to win stuff, and part of that is seeing rivals lose. |

This in spades, but first those silly puckers at the barn up the road have to go!
Ayr, Dunfermline, Paisley, Falkirk, Perth. All towns our size that along with football club of our size also used to have Ice Hockey teams... but no longer do (Some since the 1960's). Kirkcaldy isn't big enough to support two professional teams of a similar stature.
I know that won't be popular with some (sorry JAR) but even if the vast majority of fans would maybe like to go to both, financially for too many families in the current day and age that's not an option, as a result we have two mediocre clubs fighting for the same £'s, the analogy of 2 bald men fighting over a comb comes to mind for some reason

I would note that studies show the net impacts of multiple sports within a similar drawing area depend heavily upon timing of matches versus some other fan loyalty or income constraints. Within that framework, the hockey season overlapping the football season is unfortunate, but generally speaking, only home games the day of a home Rovers match, or less so one day away, are likely of any significant influence. Looking at the schedules, there’s some overlap for about 50% of home matches. With the Rovers tickets being generally cheaper, I’m not sure the Flyers are really hurting the Rovers, or vice versa. |
