For months now I have been reading the posts on the Pars in Crises thread. Some good rivalry banter, lots of well deserved criticism, a wee bit sympathy here and there...but unfortunately so much poison.
We all agree that what happened with our club was shameful and we hold our hands up for that. However, it didnt simply happen WITH our club - it happened TO our club.
We were at the mercy of a despot who very nearly killed over 100 years of proud history through greed and failure to admit mistakes and be accountable for them.
True enough we enjoyed the days at Hampden and finishing in the top six for a few years, blindly accepting that all was well when the cancer was taking hold and spreading fast.
Fortunately there were enough amongst us who saw what was happening and started a movement that ultimately brought an end to the tyranny and rescued DAFC in the nic of time.
This was not an easy task. There were many doubters who refused to believe the depth of the problem. Many refused to believe the man who they thought had been bankrolling our success was in fact on the verge of killing the club off.
There were divisions and debates. Previously good friends were split and many harsh words were said as this played out.
Fortunately the end result was a victory - not just for Pars fans but for all football fans. Here is proof that our game and our teams can be rested from the grips of the greedy and returned to the paying customers who know what is best for their team.
By all means direct your vitriol at those responsible but please do not judge the true fans who turned this horror story round in the same vain.
Pars fans are not cheats.
DAFC are not cheats.
The Cheats are gone thanks to the hard work of honest men and women.
We have an honest young team who stuck it out through what must have been a horrendous ordeal for them -and we have an honest future ahead of us where sometime soon, as these young lads develop under a Manager who has inspired all throughout, we will once again challenge our great rivals on an equal playing field.
The time for castng stones is over. Lets look forward to a continued rivalry fitting for the honest people of Fife.
Having said that I hope we don't meet up next year as I sincerely hope you are promoted to the Premier League.
Aye a Fifer! |

Are you mad putting a post like that up on a rovers forum looking for sympathy.I am glad you will survive as i have mates who are pars fans plus we like the rivalry but you wont get sympathy or anything like that from us.You spent years gloating and rubbing it in our faces when you got to cup finals and even used our money to bring players in to win the league when we were neck and neck. _________________ YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE

Mad as a box of frogs Sonofwallace!
Like I say - that was the previous administration. Most of us were daft enough to believe all was well. The club is now in the hands of decent people.
BTW I am sure it was a fan who paid for Hardie. |

I will save my sympathy for the businesses and charities that Dunfermline Athletic Football Club cheated out of much needed money so that they could pretend to be a big team. Mind you I suppose a 15 point penalty is ample punishment. If you spend several seasons languishing outwith the First Division/Championship then maybe you will be forgiven but until then pars fans should humbly accept the ill feeling towards them (as far as football goes) from those who were wronged by their immoral and reckless behaviour. An official apology from DAFC would be a start. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

Well said Pars fan. Although the club diddled many businesses and other football clubs.
We were saved from the brink. However, it will be a continuous fight to survive. Fortunately along with our board members (some are truly fantastic) and donations from fans and fans groups which will help our club survive.
Good luck with yours.
Its the rivalry we love

I don't have problems with the genuine fans like yourself, PARrot, it can be difficult to see what was happening inside the boardroom. I said That I can't forgive the Pars for cheating, not only RRFC but as others away, businesses lost out due to the dreadful offer of nil in the £.
I accept RRFC had problems too but at least we didn't go down he admin route, which is basically a way of avoiding meeting liabilities, although I concede some businesses may have written off any debt or agreed a reduction. At least the businesses had that option.
I also acknowledge the Pars are not the only club to go down the admin route, so am treating all clubs who did equally.....! |

Which equal playing field would that be? The one where you play in your own Stadium obtained by entering admin and shafting people left right and centre while we continue to pay rent on our own ground each month?
I hope Dunfermline languish in the lower leagues for seasons to come, one or two seasons down there is an experience, after that it can become depressing and that's what I want your fans to experience.
SPL top 6 finishes.....Cup finals.... European nights under the lights..... Doesn't seem so easy now you don't have millions of pounds of stolen money to play with eh? |

We did actually own the ground before the culprit took it from us. We just got it back
The mud slinging can and no doubt will continue but I think you will find that the vast majority of Pars fans are very much aware of what has transpired and are embarrassed and ashamed of what was done in our clubs name.
You can direct the mud in the right direction though.
We as fans identified the problem, decided enough was enough and dealt with it.
Unfortunately many lost out financially. The fans are doing what they can to support businesses who lost out - for instance I bought my car from Curtis Motors before looking anywhere else. There is not much else we can do.
Like I say Aim the mud in the right direction. We now have a decent group running the club who will progress within the means of the fanbase.
It will take time to do it properly and we may well remain in the lower divisions for a while.
Banter is great but I would not like to see the name of Raith Rovers tainted forever by the actions of an individual any more than I expect the name of DAFC to be tainted forever by the actions of Masterton. This club has been around for a long time. It does not deserve to be vilified due to the actions of one man over a decade.
We should all be celebrating a victory for fan power and looking forward to many great battles on the pitch in the future.
It's fun ripping the p?sh when you get the chance but I dont feel hatred toward you - just intense rivalry - the way it should be.
Outside our own clashes I always want to see the Fife side do well.
So go win your league and watch over your shoulder....we will be back! |

Worst thread ever. If Masterton had won that court case on Friday then justice would've prevailed. _________________ If I were a fighter I'd probably kick your ass. |

The problem is Pars fans didn't care when Masterton was wasting money on paying players thousands a week to play for Dunfermline. They only cared when Masterton no longer could afford or had the means to fund the loss making operation that was Dafc. Of course history is now being rewritten to tell a story of how some big boy did it and then ran away. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

Take heart Pars fan, most of us know the pain you have gone through and still are going through, we have done the journey.. some fans will never quite understand it though. |
