A few weeks ago I was approached by a fellow Raith fan who asked if I fancied starting a Whisky club, being a longtime devotee of the dram, naturally I said "I'll give it some thought".
After careful consideration and on-going discussions with potential interested parties I've decided to give it a go if I can generate enough interest.
The format is open to discussion but initially will be as follows:
2 trial events and if successful a view to holding 4 meets a year.
Open to all (Raith and non Raith fans) on a 1st come 1st served basis.
Events limited (initially) to 25 people but with scope to expand.
Meetings to be held at Starks Park within one of the clubs or lounges.
£15 per person which will entitle attendee's to sample 4 separate (25ml) whiskies and discuss their merits or if necessary their lack there-of.
Cheese and Pate nibbles to be available.
Events to be on a Sundays at SP following 1st team away games.
The plan is of course to utilise Starks Park as a venue thus generating some extra income for the club whilst at the same time branching into the community with something outwith RRFC and the game it's self.
I already have already almost a dozen interested parties and some have also expressed a desire to donate a bottle to the initial event/events to get the cask rolling.
I'm hoping to go for a launch on Sunday the 15th December after the Falkirk away game, with a 1pm start just in time for the football in the background on TV (Man Utd,/Everton, Wolves/Spurs & Arsenal/Man City or Celtic V Hibs).
If it's a success then there is scope for similar events with Gin, Rum and even beer and wine.
I've long been an attendee at a similar styled club that meets (outwith Kirkcaldy) bi-monthly and although it may not solve an ongoing cash crisis at a stroke it does give use to the premises and will raise outlooks as spirits go down.
Ladies and Gent's, what are your thoughts? _________________ Competitive goals: Connolly 15, Gullan 7, Easton 7, Vaughan 7, Stanton 6, Akio 3, Brown 3, Dick 3, Connell 2, Goncalves 2, McBride 2 ,McGill 2,OG 2, Frederiksen 1, Lang 1, Nolan 1, |

Would be interested in the whisky, but you can ram your cheese nibbles. Can't stand the stuff.
Pies or bridies would be a much more appropriate partner.
Then again, the last time I drank whisky in the 200 club was in the company of yourself and the Wolfman.
Quaking at the prospect of a repeat performance. _________________ Dougie Hill
