Chopper,
Its a good idea but you will struggle make money off the actual darts competition.
You might make a bit off the bar takings etc.
If you want to attract players you will need to offer decent prize money. You will also struggle for dates when decent players will turn up. Most weekends are full of tournaments already.
If you were to have a less serious tournament then maybe you would get people along for a bit of fun where the aim is not to win decent money.
I play a fair bit of darts in Fife and Clackmannan and there are very few tournaments around that make money other than bar takings. |

Hold it in the 200 Club after a home game perhaps?
That way folk that are taking part will probably have been at the football and will just have to come up the stairs.
£5 entry and you could arrange wee side games like 1st to hit the bull three times or killer or something like that for extra wee subsidies.
I'm sure the club would give you prizes to encourage folk to take part.
Good idea, Chopper. |

Fifes finest have a darts tournament every year so if folk want they are welcome to join in to make it bigger and better.I am not sure when it is next year but it may be round april/may time but am sure someone will confirm that.We have it styx where there is at least 4 dart boards so you are able to get more games going at the same time. _________________ YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE

A darts competition might not make a lot of money but holding an exhibition would be pretty profitable.
Get the right players and you could take £30 a ticket and £70 for VIP tickets
Many local pubs have had them and they are a success |

An exhibition would be ideal but it would be attracting the right big names and having a decent size venue if it took off, I remember the Pettycur Bay done something like this and it sold out super quick.
If we had out own tournament were entry was say £5 you might be able to make something off that probably not much _________________

If anyone is serious about putting on an exhibition drop me a pm and I can put you in touch with someone who organises them.
I have played in a few and they could be a money spinner.
You will have ticket revenue, raffles, memorabilia auction (if you can get some donated) and you could auction off the chance to play a top player.
As I said if someone wants to put the work in I know someone who does this and I cn put you in touch. |

Exhibition ould be great as long as it was the top players. Anderson, Wade, Taylor etc. all played along at Petticur Bay, this would sell out instantly.
On a side not why dont the club organise a darts league within the 200 club. Could be played every Saturday after a home game, small fee to enter the league but revenue with players staying after games and perhaps drinking etc... |

That's a great idea too.
I raised the topic of a darts competition at the fundraising meeting that we have prior to every home game and it was met with enthusiasm.
We should try and push this forward, garner interest in a league format that would take place after home games and maybe have a bigger tourney as an annual thing. I'd personally hold the big tourney as close to the festive period as possible when the darts is on the telly to gain more interest. |

Do you have a rough price as to the player fees?
There seems to be different tiers of players you can get i.e Taylor/ Anderson top tier then cheaper folk like bristow / priestly etc
I think there's a good couple of grand profit possible |
