Should be a great night with Val McDermott and Ian Rankin. Already looking forward to a delicious meal with the menu set by Delia Norwich Smith and of course celebrating our greatest day and to a night of Rovers thrilling banter.
Received a letter and flyer with all the details from the club today, very professional and then read the last bit:
"Dress Code: Gentlemen are requested to wear lounge suits."
What on earth is that about? |

Loung suits, shirt and tie are formal but not as formal as black tie. Smart and tidy is the order of the day. Totally fed up with everyone doing scruffy! We didn't fight and win the war for scruffy to be the order of the day. Don't understand the present generation at all. Cough! Splutter! Tut! Tut!

What ho!
Sutherness
PS. Small suggestion but chaps could remove over-garments such as lounge suit jackets when overheated by proceedings. It may be permissible to 'louse' one's necktie as the evening's events progress and perhaps permit.
Get awa' there and enjoy yirsels! _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Do I detect a smidgeon of an air of flippancy on this matter Mr Scotty? _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Disappointing to not be able to find any information on the official site other than the original article. Anyone know how I can find out more about this and how to apply for tickets?

Alfie, phone or email the club and ask for Margaret Anderson the Events Manager and she will send you the details.
Goodness knows how there hasn't been a big push on this event.
PS Ask for clarification on the dress code, there is NO way I'm going dressed up penguin style in a "lounge suit". |

I'm being serious for a moment on this issue. A lounge suit is not a penguin suit. A lounge suit is an ordinary suit 2 or 3 piece. A 'penguin' suit is a dinner suit. But you would know that already? Why for the sake of a bit of formal dress deprive the funds to the cause? Being in the very fortunate position to be able to afford the ticket I'd jump at the chance to be able to spend an evening with Ian Rankin and Val Mcdermid for £65 or whatever suit or no suit. Alas distance precludes such a luxury. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!
