I was in kirkcaldy High Street today and noticed that there is no physical sign that Raith Rovers even exists. As I sat in the barbers chair I started thinking about this and hit upon - what I believe to be - an excellent money spinning, and great idea to promote the rovers in and around fife.
You know that the royal family has an emblem they allow products and services to display if they use that product or service- so why don't the rovers do the same type of thing.
Basically, we would create a badge or shield(A2 or A3 size-ish) that would contain the rovers badge and a line of text (something like "Proud supporter of our local team" or "Proud to support Raith Rovers"). Thes shields would be manufactured by a company such as Sandy's Sign Shop and purchased by the local businesses through RR (say £50), they would then pay a sub to display the logo for a season. Ideally you would have them displayed like the "Investor in People" things. Companies that then buy advertising space, or sponsor a match would be permitted to buy and display the logo for the season as part of the deal.
As well as making money, this scheme would raise the profile of the club as our identity would be posted through out the region. |

Tie this into the businesses having a pitch-side board (or being on a special community Ad board in the concourses???) and it might be a commercial winner.
I'm far more likely for example to give my custom to Comet that Curries if the former had a board saying they were backing Raith, just as I did with Fife Auto.
Most people will opt for the cheapest but in these days of price match etc you can negotiate the same deal anywhere. This fact isn't lost on the retailers either who are constantly looking for ways to win custom, with that in mind they too may well be interested in such a scheme. _________________ Competitive goals: Connolly 15, Easton 6, Gullan 6, Stanton 4, Dick 3, Vaughan 3, Connell 2, Brown 1, Frederiksen 1, McBride 1, OG 1. |

That's an excellent idea. Very good, and very original. I would take it to the club, instead of just posting it here. Knock up a wee proposal with a few details and send it to John Drysdale, see what he says. He'll know if its genuinely viable or not. |

I have thought about this in the past and would love to see it happen.
Its an idea that is well used in Turin with a variety of business offering discounts to Torino fans.
I know I have used decorators and window cleaners purely because I have seen Rovers badges on their vans. |

Dennis from the Chicken Shop on the high street is looking for memorabilia to dress up The Simpsons in the shop window - if anyone has any tops, scarves, flags etc. to donate then PM me or pop into the Chicken Shop.
The Kingdom Centre in Glenrothes has a glass cabinet with a mannequin wearing a Glens strip (although more likely because they are shirt sponsors). Perhaps something like this in The Mercat?
Also maybe an opportunity to resurrect the idea of a newsletter to leave in pubs & restraunts. Perhaps this could be a project for us over the summer? _________________ NO FOOTBALL FOR FASCISTS |

I think this is a great idea and would hopefully benifit the club through the membership fee and the companies who took part through more custom from Rovers fans. There could maybe be a board up inside the stand to let you know of the companies who have taken part, this also providing a bit extra exposure for the members of the scheme. |
