Looks like we are in the middle of throwing the league title away, and with our record in the playoffs, who would bet on us going up that way? Seems J McGlynn cannot learn from games, as we have been utterly crap for weeks. Even when we were winning we were crap until recently, when we are crap and now throwing points away. We certainly no longer look like a team on its way to Division One. McGlynn has to surely see what we see from the South Stand, and LEARN from it? If not, then he surely should be watching games from the stand with someone in the dugout who can learn from his mistakes?
Don't get me wrong, John McGlynn is a gentleman. A nice guy to talk to. Gaining coaching certificates to make him better in the future. He won't get better though until he starts to learn from HIS mistakes, and apply the necessary changes on the training field to counter the reasons we are dropping points to inferior teams.
I do not really want us to lose John McGlynn as a manager, as I believe he is a decent manager in the making, but he HAS to learn from HIS mistakes for him to continue to be any use to us as a club. I also cannot stand the thought of us playing in this hell hole of a division for another season.
Therefore the question is, if we blow going up this year, should he get another chance next season?

I vote NO. Mad

Maybe not the best of coaches but he is still learning and perhaps another year would see him mature into a steadying influence. I am not a fan of blaming one person for this recent sting of draws; and I understand team selection is down to the gaffer but from what I read on the forum (and saw at my one game this year) the players we have are nothing special and tend to flare and fade during a game. Can the manager really be blamed for mediocre talent? Maybe he can as he brought them in and selects them week after week - but I still think mediocrity is all we can afford at the present time. I vote he stays and gradually push us from lower middle league status to upper middle league status. But must admit I am bitterly disappointed about the results over the past few weeks. Like many here I am pessimistic about our chances of promotion this year but this can change over the course of a single game.

I'm with Geordie_Munro on this one, McGlynn has had opportunities to get us out this league, ie via the playoffs and bottled it.

Do we want to TRY our damndest and win this league or make the playoffs as i think we would lose out in the playoffs.....AGAIN!

If we don't win this league then YES McGlynn has to go, i'm not saying hes a bad manager (far from it) but some of his player selections and tactics have been baffling.

Here's an idea...lets wait and see if we can win the league before we discuss this. What people aren't mentioning is that we're not losing games, we're drawing them. Surely if we starty winning then we'll have a much better chance of having a go at the league. For once, can we please just save this till a more appropriate time. Rolling Eyes

This 'wee fandan' has been attending games for twenty odd years. Therefore this 'wee fandan' is entitled to seek the opinion of his fellow supporters on an issue which happens to be important, not only to myself, but a lot of our supporters. Rolling Eyes

he comes across as a likeable guy (maybe thats the problem in the dressing room) and has the reputation for being a good coach,as a manager well time is only going to tell,
you can only work with what you've got, problem is he signed them, he tells them what they are supposed to do. they dont deliver and nothing gets changed, promotion under this set up would be a total disaster and a long weary season till relegation. but its catch 22 who would we get to replace him and wheres the cash coming from to buy new players. like another poster said I think he will walk of his own accord

If we dont go up he HAS to go. Im a big supporter of mcglynn but we cannot afford another season in this league and by looks of things yesterday the players had no fight to get out of this division.

Its now or never John.

If we fail to get out of this division this season then McGlynn will have failed as well. Three attempts is enough. After that someone else should get a shot.
I'm fed up reading him saying how he wants the players to play a passing game and can't understand why they don't do it.
If this really is true, which I doubt, then why not drop some of the offending players instead of letting them away with it week after week?

What the dresng room needs is a motivator, someone who can light a fire under the players. Gary Kirk was perfect in that role IMO. We need someone in who can do that. Not being critical of Paul Smith, but he doesn't have that type of personality.
