I feel he has struggled last few months and tried TOO hard which isn’t necessarily a criticism so longs he learns from it.

Too concerned about how our opponents are going to play at times instead of focusing on ourselves?

Too keen to put squad rotation ahead of continuity?

Basically, I think we have suffered from all the chopping and changing, not just line up of players’ but formation/tactics too.

Is he trying too hard to be a ‘champions league’ manager when the fact is that we are in the Scottish Championship? Sometimes less is more when setting up and instructing a team… Let the defenders go out and defend, let the defence minded midfielders protect, let the creative players create..etc etc…

I have sympathy for our constant loss of senior centre backs, he clearly doesn’t trust Corr ahead of Scott Brown and we just have to trust him on that but barring that and maybe the Ross Millen affair, he has had a pretty easy ride regards injuries… Stanton being the only longish absence coming to the forefront of my mind?

I just want us to do our best in these play offs and have no regrets to look back on… Let’s the boys go out and play without over complicating things before the enter the field…

We have a budget Premiership midfield squad*, in the Championship. A top level squad has rotation, and multiple players capable at each position, something we have*. They also have things like reserve teams and ways to keep the rotating players involved and up to speed. We suffered this year from an excess of midfield options at the cost of depth at the back. We then used midfield players rather than trusting what depth we had at the back. This is the genesis of our “failure”, which I would have to call a successful defeat since we nearly took DU.

I'm grateful for the well considered and thought out replies to my question and I can't say I would argue with the points made. At the start of the season we played our own game and let the opposition worry about us, but as some mentioned IM tried to get too clever instead of letting them play the basic simple free flowing football we had done. I think the idea of promotion got to the management team (and board no doubt) I hope it will indeed be a really good learning time for them all.
I don't actually want to go up this season (tin hat on) Murray isn't ready for SPL football, neither is the squad or the club IMHO.
As for Vinnies reply, well Klopp hasn't confirmed where he will be next season so who knows? Maybe you could drop him a line Vinnie and ask if he would volunteer to help out pre-season Laughing

Assuming we stay in this division, I think we will be a better club for it, from coaching, squad balance and club infrastructure and maybe, just maybe, they will get rid of those stupid player videos, I'm all for a laugh but these are supposed to be professional footballers playing for a professional club. This isn't Kelty Mr Barrowman!
