Trying to win the league with no real defence 2 CH's that cant keep clear of injury, shoehorning in a midfielder that's not really good enough to fill that position, never having a settled team or a Manager who never seems to have a plan B when things ain't going well, was always going to be a hard task.
The aim now must be to finish in 2nd place for the prize money and trust to luck or whatever else we need to make the play off final

Is Ashcroft still available to us or is he completely done ??

I’d love to know too, but I’ve seen nothing since the “he may return to Dundee and have surgery” statement.

I doubt very much that Barrowman & Co would entertain the idea of holding back from promotion, because of possible unintended costs later on. I couldn't see a single player not wanting to play in the Premiership either.

There were rumours after Ray McKinnon jumped ship that Mr Drysdale had similar concerns, which may or may not have had a bearing on Gary Locke's subsequent appointment. There were unintended costs of that - not from promotion knock-ons, but from relegation and paying him off. Then there was the whole Ann Budge farce then the DG/VM explosion. My point is that unintended consequences happen regardless. I don't think there is a team in the leagues - including Airdire, Arbroath, Queen's Park and even Cove Rangers that would shun Premiership football. They would all take it in a flash. Brora Rangers - true or false - I would get it. It would be a bit like us playing in the National League in England. Inverness played their home games 104 miles away in Aberdeen when they first got promoted - never mind their away games! Very Happy

There may have been Rovers boards in the past who might have got a wee bit jumpy about top-flight football. My gut-feeling is that this board would take it in a flash.

For me, the slump is down to IM is trying too hard to keep "great players" appeased by rotating them. It is not working at this stage. He could have done better with defenders in the transfer window. The Ashcroft scenario was brutal - literally! Still, it was a case of too little too late and it shows what can happen when one player is pivotal to team performances. We are less attacking now than we were in the autumn. It makes the Ashcroft question all the more relevant - albeit it was not at the time. A lot of time has passed now. Question for IM for Raith TV maybe? Wink

If the question is, will Ashcroft play for us again this season, everything points to the answer being " No", surely . I am a bit bemused that the question is even being asked. Have we heard of Ashcroft returning to training ? No such suggestion or rumour. Could he come back from such a serious injury and step right into the first team ? No.

I'm just back from the AGM and Andrew Barrowman's view is that promotion will be a silver bullet for the club.
He said we'll be in a position to press on with two or three infrastructure projects over the next couple of seasons if we remain in the Championship, but we could press on with at least five if we're in the Premier.

They appear to have been good for the club so far.
Team selection is not part of their purview.

That is presumably down to what he has said who he wanted. Certainly can be no complaints about size/ depth of squad.
I hope that should we fail this year, then at least “ learning has taken place” and by that I mean coach/ asst coach. Confused

Thought that was a well considered post Neil so, sorry for just picking the last bit.
When did Raith TV ever ask a difficult question? it's always the same, pre match it's reflections on the last game, injuries and suck up to the fans. Post match it's reflections on the match, any knocks, absolving the players of blame and suck up to the fans.
Not sure what has happened to Davie doing the interviews, I always felt he was on the verge of dropping a tough question in but I think the spectre of that McGlynn interview still haunts him.
I appreciate the guys are volunteers and need to keep on the clubs' good side but they are fans too, they read the message boards, they interact with other fans so they know the questions we want answered!
