14th of March 2009. We've been beaten by Ayr at Starks Park which sees them overtake us to go top of League One. Our form since the turn of the year had been patchy. We'd drawn or lost more than we'd won. The prevailing mood leaving Starks Park that afternoon was one of having blown the title with nine games to go. Instead what happened is we won the next eight games on the spin to wrap up the title with a game to spare. Marvin Marvin We Believe was the chant coming from fans during that run in if I recall correctly.
Then like now confidence wasn't high that we could finish the season strongly but we did and it's not beyond the realms of possibility we could again.
If we beat Ayr on Saturday and Utd fail to beat Queens Park suddenly it's back in our own hands. As quick as that it's all turned around again. If we can beat an Ayr side we beat only four weeks back. If.....

I'm still in the Believe camp.
One game at a time. We'll have a fair idea after Saturday and next Tuesday what's likely to be the outcome of we don't win either or both. However, still all to play for.
Just make sensible starting eleven selections to suit the opposition on the day.

We will likely be without Murray due to concussion protocols for Saturday and perhaps Tuesday against the Diamonds too.

We need to get back in the saddle and to do so imo we need a pair of centre halves, I've no confidence but would like to hope Murray saw something of the truth on Saturday and can forget about dicking about with square pegs in round holes or else we are a lost cause. Dowds is a battering ram type of CF and I'd rather we throw Corr on with Watson and get them used to each other because if Murray doesn't make Tuesday my fear is that asshole Toderov will over-run Brown just as Moult & Watt did. This free's up Scotty to return to the holding role where he should be.

Im not one who likes watching players played out of position but if it comes to the crunch I'd rather see Dicko in the middle with McGill at LB, if we're dong that we may as well put Matthews in at RB instead of James Brown too!

Easton was poor on Saturday past but you have to hope he could do a similar job in shackeling Chalmers as he managed in Ayr.

I don't mind Scotty's line up with the exception of Mullen in for Turner.

And Hamilton instead of Rudden. He’s much better at being a target man than Rudden, who rarely wins a header.

I too would honestly prefer Hamilton to Rudden but I suspect the loan agreement has him playing more mins than not, that's the only reason I can come up with Rudden playing so much as he wins so little in the air compared to Hamilton.

As for Mullin/Turner I'm fairly easy either way as long as it's one or the other and not both. Although if pushed I'd prefer Turner on the wing as he's more mobile of the two and I would say a better footballer, I feel he's wasted as a Central Mid'.

However I fear I will be disappointed as the gaffer will have his own ideas and they've been nothing like mine of late.

When it comes to all matter Raith i'm usually bottle half empty. The reason behind my thinking for this match and probably the remaining matches is i don't have the confidence in IM to pick the correct team.

Very rarely has he played a settle team, it's like he plays a rotation system to give everyone game time. Ross Matthews not playing on Saturday with Brown in CD with a fully fit KW on the bench was crazy.

Draw at best on Saturday and the rest of the season to fizzle out.

Do we know Watson was 100%? Agree, baffling if that was the case.

I’ve always been an advocate of playing players in their favoured position along with continuity when possible. Might sound silly but I don’t believe football management needs to be as complicated as some seem to make it!

Same time, Murray has been gifted this large squad and must be feeling the pressure to use it. Having a week to plan and almost everyone available, it must be easy to over think things and in the end, as appears the case at the weekend… over complicate things.

Aye weren’t great when winning on Friday, they have several players out so not a bad time to get them.

When we talk about the 5pts dropped to Arbroath from being 2-0 up each time, let’s reserve a special mention for the calamitous 4-4 v 10man Ayr earlier this season!

Just seen a forecast on the tele.
It's going to be very windy at around 50 mph tomorrow afternoon when the game is due to be played. Wind has backed to a southerly so it will be blowing up the park to the top end.
Haven't a clue Willie K if the bridge will be closed or just have a speed limit on it.

I think the only time the new bridge has closed was due to falling icicles. It’s designed to cope much better than old one with high winds. Should be open, but no guarantees.
