For a stand in full back I have been impressed with McGill. Calm and composed. If we didn’t have such a strong midfield then I think he would fit in there nicely too

Echo most of what’s been said here and on other forums. Thought we were the better side first half with Dunfermline probably having the better of the chances.

Smith and Stanton’s work for the goal was that persistence in chasing down and putting pressure on with a high press. I thought Stanton was our best player and we sat in as soon as he went off. He was constantly pick pocketing their midfield, what a player he is.

Dabrowski’s saves were incredible, especially the offside one. Just wish he came for crosses and caught them rather than punch or deflect but sure Robbie will be working on this.

I thought the starting setup was perfect. I think maybe a rocket will have been put up the collective @rses of those that didn’t start as usually, if fit, they are starting. Could do with defensive cover so hope Jubiak is on his way to Dunf and not us as much as I’d take him we have plenty options up top.

I thought Benedictus was badly at fault for the chance that Stanton missed in the 2nd half.

Didn't think he was good enough for a team going for top 4 when he left us, and have seen nothing since to change my mind.

Didn't help when a flare was shown on an official RRFC video!!

But agree - there was a flare burn on the Hibs turf as well - maybe RRFC got a bill for that.

where did you see the highlights? I can't get through the Twitter barrier.

Found them - gritty stuff

A bit nerve jangling at the end but a good day.

Big Kev, dodgy punch early on but solid there after, his best display so far.
Millen, caught out a few times when he lost his man. 1st to get to our fans at full-time, I think he was emotionally charged.
McGill, strong, strong performance. Didn't get forward much but was solid in defending our left.
Watson, reads the game well and organises superbly, quite a few misplaced passes and headers that put us under the cosh when we should have been clear.
Murray, solid game, just hope that the niggle isn't too bad.
Brown, Rock solid in the heart of the midfield.
Byrne, really didn't put a foot wrong.
Smith, not his best game but did nothing wrong, fought well for his assist.
Mullin, clever movement and passing, did well.
Hamilton, gave the Pars defence a torrid time, should have had it squared to him by Stants.
Stanton, did well and took his header really well, should have either chipped Sharp for the 2nd or played in Hamilton.

Early days but The 2023-24 Rovers team seems far more resolute than previous seasons. There was real fight shown at the end, bodies on the line stuff that was great to watch.

Confidence, belief during the 90 and a further show of passion at the final whistle when they acknowledged the Rovers support.

Also, speaking of stopping the flares, same applies to the young ones sitting directly behind me, must have been at least 4 of them smoking vapes

Let's face guys, the Pars had us on toast for parts of that game and missed a few "easy" chances. However, that's a huge positive testament to our team who stood firm for the most part, held on to the lead after we scored, and in the end the Pars simply could not break through.

Stanton's goal after Smith's tenacious work on the left, was a top drawer header at a difficult angle. His final chance maybe should have been a pass to a better placed player, however we all seem to miraculously have perfect hindsight.

Dabrowski played well enough today and deserves his fair share of the plaudits for the shut out. His save in the second half was magnificent, and although their man was offside, Dabrowski did not know that.

McGill was a fantastic stand in for Dick, and although he would not have struck me as a natural left back before the game, I thought he rose to the challenge magnificently .

GREAT result. Well played the Lads.

That’s the most pleasing part for me.

We are still a work in progress, we still have players out or working up their fitness, teammates still getting to know each other, one or two reinforcements will likely arrive in the next week or so too….

We weren’t a great watch, I’ve attended all three league games and but for the odd period here and there, we haven’t been pleasing on the eye for the best part in any of them to be completely honest.

Would our teams of recent years battled back v Thistle? Would they have raised their game again to beat Morton after having 2 goal lead pegged back? Would they hold firm and collect a clean sheet yesterday? Nope, we would likely be sitting on one or two points, not seven!

We WILL get better, we WILL win games this season by playing silky, possession based football but when the chips are down….. the fight, the togetherness, the never say die…these are the things we are going to require at times throughout the season to make it a successful one.

All too busy out celebrating to be posting on here last night.

After more than a decade of insipid, almost cowardly tactics at East End, where we've sat back and paid them far too much respect, it was refreshing to see us going toe to toe from the off yesterday.

Thought we edged the first half in terms of general play, although there's no doubt they threatened the goal more. Fair play to McPake for acknowledging this. His dignified post-match reaction was a million miles away from the bitter garbage Jim McIntyre used to spew after a defeat.

In the second half, we were very slow out of the blocks (reminiscent of last season), and this gave them a real foothold in the game, although we had the clearest chance through Stanton (where Bene didn't exactly stroll it).
In a derby where one side is chasing an equaliser, you expect to have to withstand a fair bit of pressure, and to be fair we restricted them to very little by way of clear cut chances, although admittedly their final ball was pretty poor.

It's also worth noting that we played out the closing stages with only two recognised defenders on the pitch.

No one really reached a nine out of ten level of performance, but no one fell below a six.
Take your pick from McGill, Brown and Murray for man of the match.

Overall, like most games in this league, fine margins decided the outcome, but we have to be pleased. There's no way we'd have defended that number of corners and crosses last season without conceding.

Did anyone manage to get a picture of the Pars new banner or tifo as referenced above - I heard it was apparently a bit odd
