I really couldn't care less about who put the ball in the net, the main point is it went in and counted, and helped turn a defeat into a draw

I meant to add a huge congratulations to young Mitchell in my previous post. His positioning for his goal was excellent. He did not just run in to the goal line, he deliberately stayed back and was perfectly placed when the ball came in. I am confident this could be the first of many for this young man.

I have said before how much I admired this lad, and I hope he can stay and remain part of the first team squad. This will hone his skills to a higher degree than would otherwise be the case should he he go out on loan to a lesser team.

Definite own goal Tex no perhaps needed.

Not debating OG, just noting no one saw enough flight of the ball to decode of it was on target or not initially. Easton struck the ball, within three feet it deflected off the defender’s foot, after another 20-30 feet of was headed by another defender, directly into the goal.

I think, personally, the initial shot might have been on target, but I can’t tell…and I don’t have an issue with it being an OG even if Easton was on target because of the double deflection.

How many sitters, chances and half chances were missed by both teams? Watched the highlights earlier today and how that game only ended up 2-2 is a total mystery.
We were a wee bit fortunate but it's done and dusted now and in the history book as a draw away to Partick.
I'd have taken that at kick off.

If a shot is on target and gets deflected into the net the it seems the general thing is for it to be awarded to the attacker, if it's not on target and goes in then 9 times out of 10 it's an OG, seems this one is the exception, the UB40 occasion if you will.

I was bang in line, in-between Davies camera and the trajectory of Easton shot, it was going wide until Milne got in the way. Own goal all day long.

A good result from what was an overall poor performance, far too many occasions where the wrong option was excessed with Mssr's Vaughan, Easton and McGill being the principal villains of the piece.
We got out of jail or should that be Ian Murray got out of Jail, his name sake Muzza was miles off it and was really lucky not to see a card for sheer intent to do harm. If the gaffer had given him 10-20 mins at Annan then I'm sure he would have been sharper. Persisting with McGill who so obviously struggles at RB is a worry, Watson has no pace and it's already costing us goals when the CH's are pulled so wide to cover the right side.
All last week I was telling anyone who'd listen to me that it was going to be a draw and I'd have settled for that on the drive through, by FT I was delighted with a point.

Half time was 2-0 to them but it could have been absolutely anything, from 2-3 to us to 5-3 to them or any variation thereof. Not so much a mystery as two fairly gash teams. Laughing

And that’s my problem here…Easton’s shot was deflected BEFORE it got three feet from his foot, and then deflected again by Milne. It’s just too short a distance before the initial deflection to see if it was going in or not.

As such, the award of the OG seems fair.

I actually think that this was a brilliant result for the season going forward. Last year, if we trailed things looked bleak. This year we can already look back and see we can find a way back into games. The mindset of the team coming off this game has to be excellent..yes, we missed some right sitters, but we scrambled, fought and found a way to get a difficult point on the road.
