Disappointing.

Managed to catch all the first half then after 15 mins of the 2nd missed the rest apart from the pens. Thought on a whole they were two very well matched sides who mostly cancelled each other out. All the same I don't think we asked enough questions of them.

One or two Pars players look decent none more so than ex-Rover McCann who had our stand-in RB on toast. Once or twice the Rovers defense looked all at sea, had the Pars a sharper strike force we would have been in serious trouble. Midfield was I felt disappointing. Looked strangely like a lack of sharpness all round particularly up top where we either wanted an extra touch or dithered. Although the post match team credit their keeper with a lot.

No change really from my comments after each of the friendlies. Need to strengthen that defense and once Broony and Matthews are fit we'll be ok.

Corr worried me a bit. Looked like he could be the next scapegoat for the team. Hopefully just nerves on his competitive debut.

McGill isn’t a right back

Saw both sides of Easton. Quality play and goal equalled with moments of rashness in some challenges.

Dabrowski didn’t fill me confidence either but he also lacks first team matches so another who can get better,

Decent match overall. Draw was fair. Penalties a lottery.

Onwards and upwards

My first impressions of our new signings were not great tonight, with the exception of Jack Hamilton who wasn’t on for long, but looked the part.

Disappointed our 2 strikers didn’t hit the target with their penalties, however they both looked sharp and had good games.

We really missed Brown in midfield and Millen at right back. I didn’t think Mullen or Smith were ever in the game for whatever reason. Big Kevin in goal didn’t command his box at all tonight but maybe needs games/confidence.

Easton was MOM for me.

Early days, but our next 3 games are now warm up games for the league unless the Pars slip up!

Look forward to the return of Brown/Mathews Millen and wee Aiden. Disappointed to lose on penalties, but a decent game.

Strange one, didn’t have the feel of a ‘proper’ derby from the Stands and some of the football on show was lacking from both sides. Plenty of effort and intent but lacked cohesion which isn’t a surprise.

First competitive game and a tough one to get thrown into for starters for a side with so many new faces but did ANY of the new signings wow anybody? Not me!

Keeper? Didn’t have a huge amount to do, does he command his area? We shall see..

Corr looked shaky and nervous at times but done plenty things right too, early days

Watson…guess he done fine

The game kind of passed Smith by, neither he nor Mullin were involved enough, when they were… the quality wasn’t great.

Hamilton is obviously behind everyone on match fitness so can be excused..

McGill really can’t be judged playing full back, what it shows us though is that it would be a bad idea to consider him as ample cover back there throughout the season… poor performance.

Of everyone on the park, only Gullan, Easton and maybe Dick get pass marks from me today, Stanton and Vaughan were below usual standard.

Funny thing is, we probably edged the game overall, 2nd half was an improvement on the 1st.

Will need to win at Killie along with the other games to qualify so it looks tough but the league IS the focal point this year, we have made a few bob from drawing Pars and getting on TV so as long as we use the other games to get where we need to be, even if we head out, it’s been worthwhile…

*Sorry if I sound ultra negative, sobering up, sore head and need my bed!

A draw was a fair result overall. Neither side deserved to lose. Some rustiness showing , but spells of good football. Oddly, I think that tips the scales in our favour for the season ahead, because we are building a team, who are getting to know one another. That Dunfermline team was playing together ,in the main, throughout last season. We ,also, had more absent key players, through injury.

Robbie has to work on Kevin's command of his box, otherwise we will be punished.

Corr, I thought, showed enough potential to be a decent defender ,with guidance from Keith Watson .

Watson, himself, will be disappointed with his defending at the goal, allowing McCann to come inside into the box at the goal, but ,otherwise looks a good signing ( but, boy, he has no pace left).
Scott McGill played manfully at RB, not his natural position.

Josh Mullin played some decent passes. It's ironic that he was not in the park at the same time as Jack Hamilton, as was he not the one ( along with Millen) who was to supply the crosses for Jack this season?,

Jack Hamilton will add a much needed dimension to our attack, once he is fully match fit.

Smith worked hard and I'll suspend judgement until he knows his teammates better.

A great pity to lose out on the bonus point. LV took too many penalties in the friendlies and was " due" a miss🙄. Some of the other results yesterday suggest that there will be twists in the group stages, tho.

The Singing Section was a failure, from the point of view of adding to the atmosphere, it did the very opposite, given there was a crowd of 4000 + ( not 4500, incidentally). Maybe they had fun on their own, tho .

The Rovers should always be playing towards the South Stand in the second half, when we win the toss. To do the opposite is a big mistake, surely that's obvious?

There were two, the first was early in the game and the second was after the goal, I didn't see any going on the playing surface.

That's a relief then Wolfie, dont want to see good money being wasted on pitch repairs due to these things

Pretty much agree on the above.
DID we chose the direction of play?.......if we did them IM needs a slapping Crying or Very sad . Turning the opposition around away from home is usually good practice as most teams have a favourite end to attack in the second half.

Over all, whilst there were a few problems I did think we did well overall.
I am optimistic. Far too early to be critical to any degree.

Cuparman, glad we saw the match in a similar light.
I'm not 100pc sure that we won the toss, I was going on the body language of the ref, Keith Watson and Bene. ( but there's a wee chance that Bene and McPake
cooked it up between them ). However, my belief is strengthened by IM declaring last season that we would , when given the choice, kick off the first half towards the South Stand , in order to assist with a fast start. Although unpopular with The Rovers fans ,
especially in the South Stand, he persisted with the tactic for a while, but then seemed to drop it. Just hoping it's not a regular tactic this season ,especially as The Rovers' support can come alive late on when the team are pressing and the noise can lift their efforts.
More alive, mind you, when The Young Team are at the back of the South Stand !!!
