I read we are introducing a home fans singing section, to be housed in the Railway stand North Section?

Have I missed something? Is the Railway stand North section not awfully close to the away fans who are, I believe, usually housed in the North Stand?

Do they mean the Railway stand South Section? Or have I just got it horribly wrong again?............ and not for the first time Mrs HR is shouting.

I never read this. If it is the case, then I think it would be the North end of the railway stand. The south end would need a bit of work to make it safe to open.

Can maybe access the North end from coming behind the south stand.

Its the North End of the Railway Stand closest to the away end.Could be interesting when the Townies and Arabs roll into town

A singing section is a great idea but not so sure moving the young team from the South Stand to virtually the other end of the ground is the best idea or will enhance the atmosphere, basically moving it from one stand to another at the other end of the ground

Also means we,ll hear the moaners and groaners in the South Stand more easilty

BTW,hope the singing section is a success

Guess we need to wait and see how it turns out but the worries I have…

Diminished atmosphere (and numbers obviously) in South Stand… sure, some of our support will be glad to get some peace and quiet but others like myself enjoy a bit of an atmosphere but are past the point of trying to get in there with the young guys….maybe we can start a singing section at back of South Stand for folk over maybe 30?

Will they be vocally supporting the team most of the time or actually just abusing the away fans next to them which, in fairness, being put right next to them lends itself to…

When the occasion arises if/when we aren’t selling out our end but away tickets are in demand… will they be punted back in with everyone else so away fans can get that stand again?

While it’s a good idea in principle, it would work so much better had it been the South end of Railway that was fit for purpose and not other way round (keeping us all together and South Stand still able to feed off noise and atmosphere that is being created in Railway)…

Anyway, hope it works out well…and hope we have home fans in other half of Railway again some time soon!

I will echo that particular wish SB.

However I think (in this day and age of indiscipline) moving our singing fans closer to the opposition supporters might not be a great idea. This may well antagonise the visiting fans to have our singing fans so close to them, which is an unusual situation in today's game. From what I can make out, the singing fans are quite young and I would imagine less able to cope with any bother against grown men, should that bother break out Confused

Using some fore sight, is it worth a re-think to proactively avoid any potential future trouble??

The club might section off a small section of the North Stand at the corner to prevent any issues. Lets be honest, unless it's the erse cheeks, no one (not even Dunfermline) will fill the North Stand to the brim so sectioning off small sections nearest the railway side shouldn't have a huge adverse effect on the crowd.

I think it's a great idea. Gives the youngsters they're own wee section and gets the moaners and groaners in the south stand off their back. There was a pic on Twitter of volunteers helping out at Starks and one of the pics was at the back of the railway stand so I'm guessing they are looking to allow folk access to the away section of railway stand when coming round back of south stand, which would make sense.

Will it work, who knows. It'll still need to have stewards there and hopefully the club release more concrete plans reinforcing the fact that giving them their own section doesn't mean a free for all to do whatever they want i.e. pitch invasions etc.

As for your bit in bold. It's not unusual at all as having banter back and forward with away fans is what makes the atmosphere. Having some verbal ping pong followed by a goal and the surge to get it up them is fantastic and I hope the young folk get to experience that. Off the top of my head - St Johnstone's singing section is on the corner next to the away stand, Motherwell as well, St Mirren as well. All for a good reason, to give it big licks to the opposition fans. You sing one song, they sing another, it goes back and forward and the atmosphere builds to the point when there is a goal it erupts.

Craig. I take your point entirely.

How I managed to bold out that section is beyond me Man.

I did not consciously do that. You have to remember, I am very old and accelerating toward stupidity, at a rate I am less than pleased with!

Fans have voted for this to be retained until the end of the season.
Remind me, please, in what form was the vote, as I can't recall being asked to cast a vote?

I got a survey after the Pars game asking me everything from how I rate the kiosks, toilets, entrances/exits and music to feedback about the singing section and where it should be in the future.

Many thanks, lbarnett-bl. Now you remind me, I received one too but, clearly, didn't read it very closely - or intended to do so at a later time, but never did 😂

I’m far from against the idea but the paedophile chants aimed at Bene were disgusting.

I’m not even fussed if our fans insult and abuse opposition players, most of us have done it but our former captain who gave us everything for a number of years? Show some respect.

I see from the Tweet re the signing section the club plan to get in touch with everyone who was in the railway stand at the Dunfermline game. Probably to gauge who wants to continue going in there and how that'll work going forward. As an example mine and my sons season tickets are in the South Stand however I'd hazard a guess he'll want to continue going in the singing section so hopefully it's just a case of scanning your season ticket at the railway stand turntisles to get through.

I'd also suspect that the uptake for the railway stand will vary from game to game. I've been dragged up the back of the South Stand from time to time by my son and it really depends on the game itself on the age bracket of folk that want to be part of the singing section. The last game of last season against Partick was a nightmare, just school aged kids being a complete pain in the backside and it's a wonder how some folk would want the singing section set up in the South Stand as the kids were being hassled left and right (and for good reason going by some of their behaviour).

The Dunfermline game was always going to bring out a few dafties and from being in there on that game there was a fair mixture of age groups - families, to youngsters, to teens, to adults (some blazed some not). The stewarding was very laxxed in comparison to the South Stand I must say.
