With the signing of Dabrowski, can we now sort out the defence? CB's please. |

Quite happy with the way things are coming together down Pratt St way.
Ok so the eternal pessimist Raith fan in me still has his doubts and worries (it's an age thing too) but with the seemingly solid foundations having been put in place we now seem to be putting together a substantial playing pool.
The 3 goalkeepers are probably as strong a 3 as we've had at any time since I started supporting the club.
Midfield we have so many options of wide men, DM's and AM's including a few that can flexibly play anywhere in the engine room, up top or even fill a hole at the back if required. Interestingly I've heard we might also be interested in Kyle Turner who is out of contract at the severely cash strapped Jags, surely that'd be a purchase we don't need.
Ok so at the back we are still incredibly light but I think we will see a few come through the door in relatively short order, although I sincerely hope they aren't too short!! With that in mind, defensively I'm not overly concerned.
Again the pessimist in me keeps thinking "this is all too good to be true". Hopefully it's the beginning of something really special. _________________ Competitive goals: Vaughan 18, Easton 11, Hamilton 10, Smith 9, Stanton 7, Mullin 4, Connolly 3, O'Reilly 3, Rudden 3, S Brown 1, Dick 1, Gullan 1, Masson 1, Millen 1, Mitchell 1, Murray, Watson 1, OG's 1, |

We are a couple of quality CB’s away from a mightily impressive squad especially for this early in the summer…
Some competition/cover in the full back positions could come in handy too…
Maybe delve into the loan market for that? |

Quite a few of these midfielders can fill in at the back if things get tight:
McGill left or rightback
Brown Right back or centrehalf
Mullin stared his career at LB but has also played RB and centre back (once)
Matthews has played RB
At least two central defenders required, would be very handy if one could play fullback if required. _________________ Competitive goals: Vaughan 18, Easton 11, Hamilton 10, Smith 9, Stanton 7, Mullin 4, Connolly 3, O'Reilly 3, Rudden 3, S Brown 1, Dick 1, Gullan 1, Masson 1, Millen 1, Mitchell 1, Murray, Watson 1, OG's 1, |

Dick plays CB and LB…so don’t discard the idea of a move to CB and a new LB…just saying. |

Yeah Scotty, I agree it’s good to have these contingency plans but that is all they should be.
Full back/wing back is such a specialist position these days that (for me) it would be nice if we stayed away from ‘stop gaps’ as much as possible, that includes any new centre backs.
We have recently watched Benedictus and Musonda cope admirably at full back to the best of their ability but it was so clear to see they were NOT natural to that position |

Aye SB, I thought Bene wasn't great at RB but I though Musonda was fair at both LB & RB.
Fully agree that we need more dedicated defenders and that these midfield guys are for use in necessity if in a tight spot only. _________________ Competitive goals: Vaughan 18, Easton 11, Hamilton 10, Smith 9, Stanton 7, Mullin 4, Connolly 3, O'Reilly 3, Rudden 3, S Brown 1, Dick 1, Gullan 1, Masson 1, Millen 1, Mitchell 1, Murray, Watson 1, OG's 1, |

Not sure of his contract situation or that but I’d take Masounda back in a heartbeat. Massive for Ayr last season, was disappointed when he left us when IM came in. _________________ RIP RONNIE |

He signed a two year deal with Ayr last summer.
I thought he was a decent centre half (although he sold the jerseys big time in Ayr's Scottish Cup quarter final at Falkirk), when fit, but I don't think we could have justified giving him a further two years given his injury record. And sure enough, he was out for a good bit of last season. _________________ Dougie Hill

He has at least a year left to run on his contract along there…
I’m not usually one to look to the past too much regards former players but Musonda and Lang are two players, had they still been here would render our current search for CB’s needless.
People will argue Musonda didn’t do enough his last stint but had plenty excuses…he was out for ages with a serious injury and was then in/out/in/out playing out of position mostly in a struggling team, hardly conducive in showing your best game.
*Talking of Lang, is there any news where he will be playing next season? |

Frankie missed 13 of 36 League matches…2 recovering but on the bench and 11 out of the team. With his previous issues with us, I’d pass. |
