Aidan was a major player for us last season but he's adding more this season. A joy to watch.
Good to see Nolan get a run out and Tom Lang making the bench.
At HT had no doubts that we would win, just a question of being patient. Our main failing was moves breaking down when we tried to get in behind them, which was frustrating as that's what was needed.
Lewis Vaughan sure was trying too hard and his shooting was off. But he still showed touches of class. Goals will come but more likely playing in a two.
Interested to see who we will draw on Monday.
Pleased that we were playing towards the South Stand in the second half. |

Totally one sided game from start to finish. Well done to Rovers for sticking at it, and once again the creative and hard working Aiden Connolly had that little extra spark and won us the game.
Have to say I was really disappointed we started with Lewis up front on his own again today. I thought with playing against a non league team at home, we could have afforded 2 up front.
However after a very dominant but frustrating first half when there was no target or centre forward presence at all for the midfielders to play into, where we continually went sideways and backwards and couldn’t make the breakthrough, Aiden saved the day. What a player he is!
I would have liked to have seen big John given more time to show what he can or can’t do today. I’m sure he has to be fit now. If he can’t get a game and shine against non league opposition, I’m guessing we won’t see him in a league game.
Great effort from the whole team again, job done, well done. |

Talbot fans say it was low for them, but easier better than many League games. I think I heard 385. |

I thought given their Scottish Cup pedigree that Auchinleck would have offered more. They were content to park the bus and frustrate but offered absolutely nothing going forward. Clearly playing for 0-0 and penalties.
We had to be patient and kept plugging away. Well done Aiden Connoly in games like this it takes a little spark to get something and he delivered. Until then we had all the possession but just lacked that bit of guile in the final third.
Today just emphasised what we already know but good to be in the hat with a reasonable degree of comfort. |

More than Queens Park brought I think. _________________ Competitive goals: Connolly 15, Easton 6, Gullan 6, Stanton 4, Dick 3, Vaughan 3, Connell 2, Brown 1, Frederiksen 1, McBride 1, OG 1. |

My but we are quite toothless!
Last two games we have had 35 shots on goal and 19 on target but only 5 goals. Yesterday we benefitted from a deflection that the keeper would have collected easily.
Vaughan isn't as sharp as he could be.
Ross and Gullan are the same.
I don't think Frederickson or Connell is the answer.
Thank heavens for Connolly.
We need another option in January, a more competent replacement for Connell? _________________ Competitive goals: Connolly 15, Easton 6, Gullan 6, Stanton 4, Dick 3, Vaughan 3, Connell 2, Brown 1, Frederiksen 1, McBride 1, OG 1. |

If so, you must have seen something in those two players that I haven't.
( They have had very limited game-time ,there is no question, but do they merit more? I don't see them in training ) |
I haven’t seen anything yet but feel they need a chance to impress. The club chased Frederiksen for several months so there has to be a player in there. McBride has barely seen any action so can’t tell if he will be an asset or not. |

The term panic buys is a theme with Murrays signings so far.

Scotty, can you identify a striker/forward, who has performed, whom IM could have signed that he didn’t? Just saying, the pond was pretty dried up. |

It isn’t Scotty’s job to do so is it? He isn’t part of our management or scouting team.
THEY have the job of identifying and attracting players to the club who will improve the playing squad. Frederiksen, thus far, hasn’t done so in the slightest, if this doesn’t change, he will go down as a failure. |

Why are you limiting me to strikers?
None of his signings have set the heather on fire, O'Riordan is the pick of the entire bunch, none NONE of the others are an improvement on what we had.
I said we need a striker and you challenge me to name one that's performed. Ok both Dundee and Ayr seem to have managed this and I strongly suspect Hamilton will be at a Championship side in January (hopefully us!) after he failed (as has Tumilty) as part of the Hartly Hartlepool experiment.
Please remember Knowing football inside out and tracking players isn't my job. I work offshore I'm where I'm paid to know about boring *bleep* out there, Ian Murray on the other hand is paid to make decisions on players at Starks Park, so far at my work I'm yet to get found out, IM on the other hand is already open to question on his decisions. _________________ Competitive goals: Connolly 15, Easton 6, Gullan 6, Stanton 4, Dick 3, Vaughan 3, Connell 2, Brown 1, Frederiksen 1, McBride 1, OG 1. |

Have to agree with Scotty. I have heard from various people about the lack of strikers and who should we have signed etc. Its not our job to deal with that.
I have to say that other than tucking into a haggis supper at Valentes, Frederiksen hasn't shown anything at all. Gets a big shout from the South Stand during warm ups etc but the fact that the manager deems an 88th minute cameo appropriate at 3-0 against a team 4 leagues below us would suggest he's not in the plan. Looks like a risk that hasn't worked out.
Connell not good enough. Being behind a player returning from serious injury who himself is not up to speed tells it's own story.
Gullan has flattered to deceive in all his spells at the Rovers. Nowhere near enough consistency now compounded by injury.
Until Murray seriously addresses the striking dilemma I think we are looking at mid table at best. |

O'Riordan has been great. Brown has been very good, Millen has improved massively since the start of the season, Ngwenya and Nolan look solid enough.
Some haven't worked out, but certainly don't think they have been panic buys. Looks like Mcglynn spent an absolute fortune last season on not very much. Keatings, Gullan and Ross all given multi year deals, signing on fees for some, and in Ross' case a development fee to Aberdeen that nobody else had deemed it worth paying. Add to that Berra deciding the throwing his team mates and the manager under the bus a week before the season starting.
I'm not privy to the finances at the club, I'm sure those more closely connected to the club can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd imagine that Murray is having to work with not very much.
He hasn't been able to sign a quality striker, but that isn't limited to Raith Rovers. It's a theme throughout the Scottish lower leagues. It is the difference between top 4 and mid table mediocrity this season, but that's alright. I'm happy to let Murray build a squad, but that may take a few transfer windows.
He's improved things from the second half of last season, which was a truly horrendous run of form and included an absolute catastrophe. I'm happy enough. |
