Walk in the park or a banana skin? Poor form, but Hamilton still pull of shocks when you least expect it.

I could see Lewie coming off the bench earlier this week - maybe even the hour-mark - while IM slowly eases him back into the game.

Our defence has made leaps-and-bounds and what many of us saw as a huge gamble by IM, could yet be our making in this league. Other sides are conceding more goals than we are now and that is before Lang is even back! If we hit a run of scoring, who knows?

Is Big John just struggling with fitness, not adapting to the Scottish game at all - or maybe a bit of both, at this early stage? Hopefully the best of him is still to come.

Btw - we need to be at least 5-0 up, going into injury-time! Wink

Don’t think we’re likely to ship 4…not sure we’re likely to score 4 either.

Vaughan to see no more than 15 minutes play…Little John to get another shot (eventually)…Ngwenya at LB and Dick at CB again, sorry Nolan…open with Connell up top with Little John taking over about the 60 minute mark…maybe first time we see Matthews for Easton.

With the form and confidence in the side no need to change anything as I see it.

I think Murray will struggle to accommodate Matthews in the side along with Stanton and Brown without losing the creativity that Easton brings.

Same again please team and performance and we'll bag three points.

I might be one of very few that doesn’t rate Brown above Matthews.I think Matthews can do the job Brown is doing but has a lot more potential to develop into a better version. I find Brown just a bit too erratic and plays too many long “hit and hope” balls when we have the option to keep possession.

He’s clearly a good player btw, but for me I’d prefer to see Matthews there.

I’m going for a 2-0 win and hope to see Vaughan and Matthew back playing at some point.

I pretty much agree other than I think both bring something slightly different.
I see Mathews better in an attacking sense but Brown is physically stronger and better in the air.
Our problem is, there is REAL competition for places in the team now, which I think keeps players on their toes with few ever guaranteed a starting place.

Good headache for a manager to have, I think.

When players think they are “ safe to start”, then that can have an adverse affect on and within, the Team.

I feel IM has a headache choosing the right players for the right matches. Smile

We have to be going into this as strong favourites, however, you hear it banded about over the years… “any team can beat any other in this league’ well, this season more than most this seems to be the case thus far..

As per every home game, for me it’s about tempo, work rate, concentration …keep these as high as possible and we won’t go far wrong

I’m out for an all day sesh Sat (including game) for my Birthday so let’s hope for another three points to make the Sunday hangover worth it!

I do wonder about Matthews. The description of his rehab and return concerns seemed to make it clear that he plays with pain despite his surgery, and managing that pain is the key to his playing time. I wonder if Matthews will ever be a full-time starter again if that is the case, or if he is now a bit player, playing out his contract before a move to a less demanding level, or even out of the game, occurs.I don’t doubt Matthews mental toughness and determination, but those comments made about playing with/through pain are bothersome.

I got something different from you, Tx, on the updates on Rossco. I've been left with the impression that his post-op pains are temporary whilst everything settles down. I hope (not least for Rossco himself ) that same is right, as I really rate him as a player and he has been very much a Rovers player, in an era when players seem to move after a few years. Admittedly, for the moment he is having to contend with Brown and Stanton having the jerseys and continuing to play well - and we all like a winning team!
The FFP has IM saying that LV might start. I'd rather he was brought back gradually and Connell probably
had his best game last week.
I never like a match when The Rovers are clear favourites. I'll be quite content with a late Vaughany winner!

That’s why I posed that question…I guess we’ll see. How Rovers to have Thomson injured now!

Agree 100% re Vaughan Franco. It seems a big gamble - a bit premature - after everything that happened with him in the past. He is not the kind of player to ask IM for more time either. We have waited so long for his return - surely we can wait another 70 minutes!

Agree Neil (and Franco) However, I'm hoping it is our historic recall of LV's injuries that make us feel this way? Maybe, just maybe, LV has already been gently brought back during his elongated rehab period? Maybe he IS already fully fit and capable of whole games?

I think IM sees him as a huge asset to the attack and I am sure he would not jeopardise his fitness by asking him to play if he didn't truly think he was ready. This would be both detrimental to the team and LV. Truth is we can't know any in-depth information regarding LV's fitness from out here. I guess we simply have to trust the Medics, LV and IM to make the right decision.

As for the game against Hamilton I am quietly confident. I genuinely see improvements within the team performances every week, and I think we will get a result tomorrow.

COYR.

You make good points there Heilan' Rover. That did occur to me, although in his pre-match interview, IM still talks about easing LV back in. I suppose the suggestion of LV starting was just one option. It could be that IM wants to gauge his situation, as the game progresses, by starting him and and take him off at some point, rather than guessing what time to bring him into the game. Could also be a strategy to get an early goal! Wink

Aye Neil, that could be another safer way of reintroducing LV to full match fitness. Well spotted.

Big Jock and Wee Lewis could become quite a potent strike force given time, backed up ably by Connolly and Stanton of course but it may require a change of formation to accommodate them all at the same time perhaps a more traditional 4-4-2 or a 3-5-2 depending on availability

today's game is all about winning the battle first to allow us to play the way we can.
i have no doubt we can out-football Hamilton but they will be big and strong and will put themselves about a bit early on to impose their physicality.

For me, it's not the right game for LV to start, so another end of game run out once we are, hopefully comfortably ahead.

First goal, as ever, will be so importatnt.

3-1 (please don't go 4 up as that would make me nervous!)
