A supreme first half performance effectively saw us get the three points today. Don't think I have seen us play better under Murray than we did in the first forty five. Connelly, Stanton and Gullan lining up well with Brown and Spencer stifling the midfield of Cove and keeping our moves ticking along. Both our full backs got into dangerous areas continually and for once Millen delivered in some telling balls. Liam Dick might have a problem getting his position back.
Cove after the break were obviously going to have to push more men forward and that subdued us somewhat in the second half but we were never troubled except when the Cove players tried to hoodwink the ref. Fortunately he wasn't falling for it.
A good win today and an excellent performance. With other results we are still in the zone of not quite being in among the promotion hunt but a few more displays like today and we might yet get there. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

A thoroughly deserved win, but very much a game of two halves.
The first half, especially the opening half hour, was tremendous and the only criticism you could level at the team was they should have been well out of sight.
The second half was much more of a scrap, with Cove sending an extra forward on, and our third goal was probably against the run of play.
In saying that, I don't think MacDonald had a save to make all afternoon, and it was probably 80 minutes before Cove had any kind of shot off target.
Big John just about scored a spectacular o.g. with his first touch - his defensive header only just clearing the bar.
Cove resorted to some absolutely outrageous diving, none more so than Megginson who went down when he was favourite to get to the ball.
Stanton outstanding and a deserved Man of the Match, with Gullan close behind. _________________ Dougie Hill

Big John, what a difference he has made.😂 Three nil The Rovers. Clearly his quiet confidence on the bench
spread through the team! |

In fact , I'll reserve judgement on Big John until I've seen more of him. The crowd very keen to make him into
a cult figure !
Sam Stanton just gets better and better.
Good to see Brad starting, although his influence waned after HT. Great to see Rossco back, too, although he looked rusty when he came on.
A word for Ngwenya. People have been quick to pronounce on this young man, but he impressed me today, both in defence and attack. |

Well done, Rovers! I was unable to listen to commentary today but, very much look forward to watching the full replay, later! So, first quarter with Ian Murray in charge over and the Report Card is thus: we are 5 points off the top, 6 points off the bottom and if we win our game in hand, we’ll be a point off the Play-Offs! For a new team and new Manager, I think that is encouraging andI look forward to their continued development, throughout the Season!! Well done, Ian - and thanks!! |

A much needed satisfactory result getting the three points. Kenny Crawford covering the game for Beeb Scotland was drooling at the mouth at HT on our performance. A bit more balanced view by ft.
Next three games could well define the season as all are away from home against strong opponents. Morton coming to life, Arbroath are not as bad as their results suggest, especially at Gayfield and then it's ICT away. We all know what happens there. If we can get five points or better from that little series of matches then things could be on the up.
Fine margins and it's still only October.🙂 _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

I concur with the positive comments. Really good result today, especially after Cove's recent results. Really good win for the lads today.
Can't help but think about the negative comments young Millen has been receiving recently though, both on our channel and the other. His crosses into the box this afternoon were excellent and his overall performance today was really good. I just wonder if the negative posters understand the affect they have on these young players? Thankfully this young lad has relegated the vile nonsense often heard on line to the rubbish bin, and has given a really good account of himself today. (Sadly other young players might take this poisonous nonsense to heart!!!!)
C'mon some of ye fans. Start sounding like you are actually BACKING the Rovers.
Constructive positive comments actually boosts confidence in these young lads. Surely, after all, is this is not what we all want? |
