Thanks for this Vinnie but it just doesn't float my boat.
My support will be with our Celtic cousins, namely Cymru.
One reason being that they have probably got the best national anthem after the Italians.😀
Plus on a much more serious note I think they are being almost dismissed before the competition has started. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

I will be supporting quite a few teams.
I cannot name them as I dunno who they all are or will be atm.
What I can say with certainty is that........
They will all be playing Engerland. _________________ Born a Rover Live a Rover Die a Rover |

Supporting Portugal. Have bet Portugal at 50/1 to win the thing (before a potential play off with Italy which didn’t happen). Portugal have the best National Anthem. |

Actually, for bloodthirsty National Anthems, the overall rating is:
1. Vietnam
2. France
3 Turkey
4. Hungary
5. Italy
6. Algeria |

So you're an ABE supporter. |
Only on the grounds of excessive Hubris.
Gets right on my wick that does.
Engerland won in 66.
Things did kinda went their way.
Many Asian ( think it was them) boycotted for some reason and not only were all the games played “at home” but for some reason, which I cannot recall, I “think” I am correct in saying they were also all played at Wembley. ( England games).
Add dodgy ref/linesman” and methinks summit smells off.
I have had many English friends but as a “ collective “ their Hubris is something I cannot stomach. . _________________ Born a Rover Live a Rover Die a Rover |

I may be wrong but did England not play a game at the White City Stadium (v Mexico?) and all the rest were at Wembley.
Vague memories. It's so long ago now it's almost history. Not that you'd know sometimes.🤭 _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

You may well be correct Embow.
I recall reading something about venue change to Wembley but it may have just been the odd game.
Not sure what or if there are any rules regarding the host nation playing their own games at 1venue or not.
I would say that the home populace might be a bit peeved IF the hosts played in only one arena, unless it was smack bang in the middle of the country. Even then, it would still not be fair to all, imho.
It’s referred to as “ home advantage “ I believe.
Make hosts up sticks and travel around like all the other teams have to.....imo _________________ Born a Rover Live a Rover Die a Rover |

1966 World Cup goes to the dogs.
Quote: | In 1966, Wembley's owner's refusal to cancel regular greyhound racing meant the match between Uruguay and France in the 1966 FIFA World Cup was played at White City. The game attracted 45,662 fans. |
