Heartening performance from the Rovers. We have quite a young team that will make mistakes from time to time but nobody really had any howlers this week.
Ok so one or two players maybe didn't play as well as they could or made the wrong choices but on the other hand some of them were very good.
Won't dwell on the one who weren't at their best but will instead lavish praise on Nolan & O'Riordan who stood up magnificently to a physical Ayr forward line. Likewise to Connel and McBride who both showed up well.
A superb spin and dispatch from Connel and a real thundering "put the laces through it" effort from Brown.
Above all though a great MotM performance from Stants who not only had a superb run and finish for the goal but a brilliant all-round performance that saw him cover every blade of grass.
I didn't see this coming, I even told an Ayr supporting collegue that I couldn't see anything other than an Ayr win as we struggled to score and couldn't defend. I've never been so happy to be proved 100% wrong. _________________ Competitive goals: Connolly 15, Gullan 7, Easton 7, Stanton 6, Vaughan 5, Dick 3, Akio 2, Brown 2, Connell 2, Goncalves 2, McBride 2, Frederiksen 1, McGill 1, Nolan 1, OG 1. |
