Looks like from the updates that we were unlucky at times in a difficult away fixture. Pity we couldn't have scraped a point. Results elsewhere very mixed leaving us in mid table mediocrity for now. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Reading comments on the other channel it seems we weren't very good which is disappointing and we were lucky to have only conceded two goals.
Nothing like fitba' for diverse opinions.🥺 _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Guys
We are still getting used to each other, and in my opinion, a coherent team is coming.
I think from 2-0 down just before half time against a REALLY good side, we end up with a 2-1 defeat having hit the post in the last few minutes..... Well this is excellent progress from where we were a few weeks ago. Back then, this game could have ended a total rout !!
We ARE progressing, and hopefully an additional skilful front man may make all the difference.

Well..........just back.
Not a great performance.
1st half we were poor.
Pretty much everybody struggled.
We created little, were poor in our distribution.
Today when a player had an option they invariably picked the wrong one.
The players themselves were frequently seen gesticulating to each other.
Despite the goals against in the first half, I thought we defended quite well, it was however spoiled by players picking the wrong options and not getting the ball into the box.
No doubt it was difficult, thistle were passing and moving and generally picking the right options every time.
2nd half we were a little better but again there was little fluency in our movement and often players were again not getting their heads up and choosing the best options.
That all said, Partick played really good football for most of the game.
The pitch was HUGE. Heavily watered for both periods of the game and It must have been extremely difficult trying to get close enough to the opposition when trying to close them down.
It was like a roll reversal of last week.
Ross had an excellent chance with just the keeper to beat but failed to hit the target. This would have been the equaliser and who knows what would have happened.
Defensively I thought we got the “defending “ bit right but the distribution was awry.
Build up in both halves were taking too long allowing the partick time to get into good defensive positions.
Pretty frantic stuff from both sets of players, but they were better at it on the day with them finding their own players more often.
Don’t think IM will be overly critical, it’s not like they weren’t trying, more just wrong options on too many occasions and simply not getting the ball into the box when they had a chance to do so.
There are plenty good things about this team, however, players are young and they will make bad choices on occasions. The point though, is having made mistakes is that learning must take place and the guys must accept this, learn and move on.
Not a disaster, as long as they learn.
I believe they will. _________________ Born a Rover Live a Rover Die a Rover |

Think that is a fair and balanced appraisal Cuparman, we were all concerned we might get a doing after their demolition of ICT so to still be well in the game second half was to the players credit. As you said, a lot of still young guys with much to learn, I would however, like to see us sign a decent and recognised CB and a fox in the box would be good too. I do worry though, that we may end up with a couple of youngsters from the premier league and not the experience we crave. _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

Aye indeed!
The nemesis comes to town in a currently highly wounded state.🥺
We really are due a league win against this lot. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Cant expect to go to Firhill with no recognised striker and get a result. Absolutely toothless up front not only in getting shots off but in holding the ball and allowing us to advance up the park.
Strange outcome. I felt we could have sneaked the draw and yet Thistle should have been out of sight. I thought their disallowed goal looked well onside and they had a strong penalty shout second half.
The miss by Ross with 5 minutes to go was a howler.
I feel we are getting better and will get better again with Matthews and Spencer back but unless/ until Murray resolves the striker situation we are going to struggle. Gullan isn't the answer. |
