We could maybe count ourselves unlucky to have lost but that's as much down to neither team really deserving to win it. However Dundee put the ball in the back of the net which we really never looked like doing and they could have probably scored at least one more had they been more clinical. Our attacks are just so disjointed. Sometimes we don't give our attacker any options and other times we don't space out and we crowd out whoever is on the ball. That said it's still our defence that worries me more. That back four will see us relegated, no question about it. Nolan's lack of career match time was desperately exposed at times today. Need another centre back in and one that has a good bit of experience unfortunately at this stage of the transfer window such a player will be rare on the ground. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

Biased, of course, but I thought that we were worth a draw, minimum.
No reason to be down-hearted after two games as there were positives.
O'Rioran looks more expansive than Nolan , who kept it simple.
The highlights will show who was at fault at the goal ( my initial reaction was to blame our MoM , but perhaps someone else could have prevented it, we'll see )
I thought that Ngwenya was bright in a role that was more advanced that I expected (Mind you, I did wonder where he would play when I heard the team lines. ) Probably unlucky to be subbed at HT but IM wanted Easton on the pitch.
No one else seems to consider that Ross missed an open goal when their keeper slipped, but I expected the net to bulge!
Let's hope that IM finds the striker that he knows he needs. |

There were some positives in todays defeat, we kept on going to the end and dissevered something out of the match.
The negatives, quite a number..... a goalkeeper who cannot kick a ball up the park or anywhere to our advantage?
Defenders who cannot or are reluctant to tackle???? how weird is that?
Defender who are reluctant to show a bit of the physical side when getting into the attacking side? equally odd.
Defenders who cannot clear a ball?
Attacking players, any player in the side... who are reluctant to shoot????
Our throw ins are as abysmal as they have been for season after seasons.
Hopefully improvements will be made during the weeks training.
Well done MoM O’Riordan.
Keep the faith

I personally think the striker situation is the big issue. It doesn't matter how good the defence is, if you can't score. Gullan should have absolutely burst the net with that ball across the goal from Connolly, and the less said about Ross' feeble attempt at making use of the gift from the goalie.
Thought the centre backs were all right. Not the reason we lost today really, for me that was playing 70 minutes without a centre forward on the pitch. |

You are also talking about 2 young lads at centre half who met each other for the first time yesterday. Let's give them a wee chance, they were fine today. |

The sooner the long term injured get back into the team the better the chance of avoiding doing 'a Pars' ☹️ |
We,re 1 point worse off than we were at this stage last season and only 3 points off a play off spot
My first game this season and though apart from a couple of chances thought the first half was poor from both teams.Second half we were much better, bringing Easton on was a big factor for me and thought we deserved at least a draw
For me intially McDonalds stupid pass out wide was the fault for there goal but we need to defend better when the ball comes back into the box
Have to agree with Calderon,we need to address the striker situation, and yes Ross should score but think the Gullan one, just too much pace on the ball into the box
Some strange decisions by the ref today _________________ THERES FIVE OF ME |

Both are issues obviously but I just think that the manager can rectify the attack more easily than the defence. A change of formation, a tweak here or there could improve things.
O'Riordan did great today, a couple of iffy passes but an assured performance. Nolan, Dick and Millen though didn't perform well today and I don't think having all three of them in a back four will bode well but I genuinely hope they prove me wrong. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

Think MacDonald is an excellent keeper but he was at serious fault for that goal today. Criminal pass to attempt when under zero pressure.
Found today very frustrating.
1st half we looked to lack belief and gave them too much respect though the way we set up certainly didn’t help. What exactly was the purpose of having the young Aberdeen boy out left? Virtual passenger. Gullan was SO isolated.
2nd half was big improvement and we really should have had a goal or two, Ross’ mess he made when the keeper fluffed his lines arghhhh, he had a simple knock to the side for a tap in.
Dundee probably edged it over the 90mins but they were no great shakes, we have improvements to make before we start thinking about climbing the table |

Not the horror show i was expecting. In the first half we looked very nervous and were getting pressed in midfield resulting in us going long to the isolated Gullan. Bringing Easton on made a difference and we were unlucky not to get a draw. Today highlighted our need for a striker and we definitely miss Spencer in the midfield so Stanton can get forward more. Also, getting Vaughan fit and in the team for a long spell can only be a good thing. |

What I’m hearing is Nolan looks a bit like Dave McKay…not enough playing time…O’Riorden looks the business…until Jan…Ngwenya looks tantalizing out of position, but we want to see him at LB…until Jan…Dick and Millen look pedestrian…forever.
Any corrections? |

Far more encouraging today after last week. Thought over the piece we were worth a point but with no goals in four games I think we and hopefully Murray see where the issues remain. Hoping for some movement on that front in the remaining window.
It looked like we needed a break to score today either a penalty (could have had two) or a bad mistake (how did Ross miss that gift from the keeper) but there's no real punch in front of goal.
Defensively I thought we were going to be up against it but the new centre backs did fine after a shaky start considering where we were left after the disgraceful departure of Berra.
Today was a big step forward from last week and if we take that forward to next week we should get off the mark.
Heading over to the Falkirk site to see Mcglynns post match entertainment. |

T Never saw the game so can only comment on what other posters report.
Not a disaster other than no points gained but on the other hand there were some positives.
Still early days, what happens next is what is important.
I would settle for mid table this season with a more positive outcome next season,
Expecting what are essentially a bunch of teenagers to get to the playoffs is maybe hoping for too much. That said, it’s a long season and who knows what may happen.
JM had years of chances without the team achieving promotion......therefore I would suggest IM be given some lee way before we press the panic button.
IF we are in the relegation zone come feb/March, then I will query IM ‘s quality, but I really don’t expect that to happen.
It takes time to build a team. We were going nowhere before and I fervently believe in IM to get the job of at least getting us to the playoffs playing good footy by next season.
He got Airdrie to FOUR play offs, At our level, I would settle for that in this or next season. _________________ Born a Rover Live a Rover Die a Rover |

Guys I thought we played much better yesterday than of late. Sadly, again, for the third game in a row, we came up against a keeper playing out of his skin. Two outstanding saves in the first half, and one great save in the second half. Also one HUGE blunder in the second half from which we most definitely should have scored! So it could easily have been 4-1 Rovers on another day? I thought Dundee looked very ordinary yesterday. Or. Did we make them look that way?
I say give the team some time. It looks like they are starting to gel, and it is VERY early in the season.
If we can keep up this level of improvement game on game, I really do not think we have much to fear.
Onward and UPWARD! |

I'd actually say that the two saves the Dundee keeper made in the first half weren't actually as good as I thought seeing them at the ground. If they had went in you'd definetly be thinking that he should have done better. You say HR that it could have been 4-1 to the Rovers on another day but you ommiting to mention the chances that Dundee spurned.
You're are correct though that it is early days. When Locke was in charge we actually won our first three games and look how that ended. I'm sure had we qualified for the next round of the cup and won our first two league games none of us would be getting carried away. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

Very good point Castle. I remember we were top of the league at that point with Locke, but it was just a good team still freewheeling from the previous season. By contrast, Murray seems to have vision and focused intelligence, regardless of whatever factors might be tying his hands at the moment. |
