Bit early for doom and gloom Embow, away to Champions on 1st week not an easy start but certainly worrying signs.
Right now, before any injured guys return (with no guarantee of full fitness) we look short of numbers, short of quality and short of experience.
Window is still open, we better use it quick and wisely! |

The commentators said we were possibly unlucky to be behind at half time, but showed no reaction after the second goal and could have no complaints about the final score.

How did the new guys do in general? Very early days and probably need time to merge and emerge to influence the game - first time they must have been together - maybe hadn’t even met some of the team. Anyway always next week.

Could have been worse.......coulda been 4-0 up with just 20 mins to play and still not won  .
Early days with a big difference in the team make up.
This team is very young and will take time to gel.
IM has had very little time , it is and is gonna be an “ in progress” season methinks.
Remember.......we were RANK from Christmas last year till the last match......give them a chance.

Virtually impossible to leave the game with any real positives.
Bare minimum of 1 x Centre Half and 1 x Centre Forward needed pretty damn soon.
Lots of good possession football, we absolutely dominated the first half , but Cove always looked the more likely to score.
I actually thought Cove looked pretty poor so that in itself is really concerning. |

Well we will see how they respond soon enough when the Dee come a calling, methinks it wont be long until some are heading out on loan at the very least.

I wasn’t there, presume you were… the possession stats on BBC at ht were 70-30 in Cove’s favour, is that inaccurate or did we actually have less good ‘possession’ football than you actually remember? |

Just in from the game. Hope the accident on the road back wasn’t any Raith fans.
Pre-season has been a write off. There is no question that the squad is weaker than last season by some margin. Not seen anything other than the Peterhead game that Easton should be starting ahead of Mitchell. I don’t mind Millen but not a patch on Tumilty. New CB looks ok but will need time as he signed 24 hours ago.
Brown is poor in my opinion. Why we are getting loans from Kilmarnock I’ll never know, would rather we developed our own players and he doesn’t look much better than what we have.
You can see and hear the frustration from McDonald in goals. Unless the signing of league 1 jobbers stops, we’ll be there next season.
Connolly played as best he could alongside Ross and McDonald. Other than that we were pretty unwatchable.

That was hard to take today. Getting beat fairly comfortably by these bank rolled Prima Donna's was a tough watch.
That was the culmination of a dreadful pre season preparation, inadequate squad and signing players in key positions 48 hours before the opening league match. All pretty predictable.
Even John Sim commented that he was nervous approaching the ground.
Murray is clearly annoyed but is complicit in the whole fiasco that unfolded today.
Possibly best to hold fort until 5 or 6 games in but on that showing I'd say a shoe in for bottom 2. |

I was concerned about how this season was going to go before the season started simply because I didn't see any obvious relegation candidates among our divisional rivals.
I'm reminded of the Paul Newman quote; "If you're playing a poker game and you look around the table and and can't tell who the sucker is, it's you."
I worry that the manager is really going to start feeling the pressure. This is probably his last chance of having any sort of a career as a manager. If he flops with us his next stop will be a lot further down the pyramid.
Early days of course. I remember in the Gary Locke season we beat the Pars at Starks Park early on and after the first quarter we were handily positioned and then it all fell apart. If we avoid defeat to Dundee next week then things won't seem quite as gloomy.
By the way Cuparman, getting beaten 2-0 will always, always be worse than drawing 4-4 regardless of the circumstances around the stalemate.

Murray might well be complicit NR but we don’t know what extent his hands are tied regards signings?
Myself along with most others expected more than a couple of kids and a CB with very little game time at ANY level. The very least I expected was a seasoned CB to negate the loss of Bene (and obviously now Berra)
I remember Sim in his interview after the Goodwillie debacle (when it was actually starting to die down) when he laughed off the claims that the signing would have financial implications on the club and it’s 1st team squad. I hope this fact hasn’t changed and we still have one or two signings up our sleeves or it could be a struggle, certainly until our injury list clears up and then we are praying they come back fit and healthy to see out feast of season… |

Yes, SB, 've been thinking about that comment by John Sim too. The signings ,to date, don't bear that out nor do Christophe's comments about his retiral freeing up funds to bring in players.
Having said that, IM didn't sound as if he had made his last signing in this window.
Not sure about his threat to drop players........unless he has more signings in the pipeline? Let's hope so. |

You are missing my point.
Last season we leaked goals throughout. Hamilton was the start and it showed how the football intelligence was lacking in game management and it remained so for many situations when we either blew or nearly blew results.
At the second half of that season we leaked goals easily after some quick starts where we would go 1 or2 up only to lose goals.
Players frequently had a mindset of job done......when it wasn’t.
IM could do with getting a sports shrink in to try and teach what are effectively a bunch of teenagers with some skills to realise that they HAVE to have their game head on from first whistle to last. Not doing so is gonna result in more leaking of goals.
This has been evident for a long time and having simply 2old hands at the back is not the answer.
We leaked like a siv when Berra and benny we’re back there so it’s not simply getting a couple of “ old hands” at the back......it goes deeper.
I agree we don’t have the funds of big clubs in Scotland or England but simply hoping that a teenager or even an early twenty something has the mental strength is certainly not a given.
It is simply a good investment that will help produce players of a higher calibre mentally with a good mindset.
Being technically good is not the full football package.
No idea what it costs, but not doing so will result in under performing players.
The players that rise to the top have to be “ clever” ......not simply technically gifted.
The club will simply stagnate as we have done since the mid 90’s bumbling along between the 2nd and 3rd teir.

| I've spent a better two hours in a dentist surgery than watch what Ian Murray thinks is passable football. We were rank and I fancy Dundee to take a few goals from us next week. |
