|
|
Being unable to go to Pittodrie today, I decided to take a stroll down the High Street and find a pub showing the game.
I'd never been in the new pub where Burton's stood, but had heard good things about it - nice surroundings, reasonably priced beer etc.
I ventured in wearing a white Puma polo shirt with a Rovers badge on it - not an actual Rovers top, just a polo shirt.
I asked the barmaid if they were showing the game and she turned round to a guy behind the bar who confirmed they were.
I duly ordered a pint and just as the barmaid was about to start pouring it, I was informed that I'd have to cover the badge on my polo shirt.
My only option was to turn the shirt inside out, so I left and headed for the Novar.
I've no real experience of the licenced trade, but can't help thinking that a sports bar in Kirkcaldy showing Rovers games is p*shing on its chips somewhat if they're not allowing punters in with any sort of Rovers badge on display.
So for anyone thinking of heading there for a pre or post match pint when the season starts, leave your Rovers scarves, tops and rain jackets at home. _________________ Dougie Hill

I remember something similar happening to me years ago in the 2nd Uncle Toms Cabin (Now the Duchess). Bar staff insisted I took off my Rovers scarf or they wouldn't be able to serve me. I reluctantly stuck it in my jacket pocket, but WT Flip! |

You'd have been raging in there this afternoon.
Three cask ale handpumps and not one working. _________________ Dougie Hill

If you had worn a sevco top or the top belonging to the other bigot brother there is every chance they would of said nothing. |

I've already given up on the real ales in there. Started off in good nick, if not really any of my favourites, but decent condition. Unfortunately the last time I was in, the ale I had was sour. I was in a rush for a bus home, so didn't have time to complain.
Oh well, always the 8.5 ABV Belgian 'Sour' to look forward to when the Harbour Bar re-opens this week. |
