Ended up going through tonight. 2nd half we played some good stuff but performance has to be marked down due to opponents, Ukraine were really flat and shadow of side that beat us in summer.
No doubt we will find a way to blow lead in table however if we actually WIN the group, not only will we get into a Euro playoff if/when needed…with it looking like England and Wales being relegated, we would then be the only UK Country in Group A next time round! Noisy neighbours wouldn’t like that! |

| We played a far better system last night, team looked more balanced without us trying to shoehorn two left backs into the team. Hope he continues with a flat back four. |

Fantastic result last night - not only three goals, but a clean sheet! I always had a feeling that Steve Clarke's side would eventually come together, if he was given a chance.
It could have been six or seven, but, note that once a gola went in, more followed. Confidence? |

I'm fine with the way we play with both Tierney and Robertson, its the choice to put McTominay into the backline that is more confusing. Both left backs offer different options. Robertson is a good crosser, but cannot take a man on to save himself. Tierney loves to take players on and provides a good overlap but his crossing is weaker and he's very injury prone.
Only downside last night was Ally McCoist and his continual need to agree with his own points all the time. "Could he have slid in there and got a touch on that? I think he could have you know, I really do" just grates every time. 
I'll take McCoist over the punditry banter merchants of John Collins, Kevin Thomson, Alan Hutton or Andy Walker etc any day though |

Aye Neil. That rare commodity of fans patience with a football manager actually coming to fruition! (I'm sure Ian Murray will be wondering if it might break out amongst some of our Fans anytime soon?)
I agree with your comment, "Fantastic result". A really enjoyable night's watch, and it was on cooncil Telly!
However, it was slightly spoiled for me at the start by a small element of the crowd booing during the minutes applause for the late Queen. I know in modern Scotland things have changed since my younger day, but have we really lost our manners, decorum, and self respect that some would now show this discourteous irreverence to a late Monarch so soon after her death?
I know everyone has the right to their opinion but surely a time and place.... ?
Anyway a great performance and super result for the lads. Onward and upward.

A vital result ground out v ROI! Heaven forbid, we would ever lose to a sacked Pars manager! 
Another Rovers / Scotland double! 
Tuesday could be the toughest game in the group. McTominay suspended (needless yellow!) and maybe Tierney and Hickey out injured - with Ukraine back on form. Have to approach it with respect, like the ROI approached this one - and then some! |

To have Robertson out, Paterson now out and the two mentioned^ injured tonight…not a great camp for our full backs!
One final push..hopefully the Ukraine from Glasgow this week show up and not the one from summer! |

Unfortunately that didn't age too well.
Tierney and McKenna out injured, McTomney suspended as we know and now a few others struggling with a virus. Hopefully Hickey is ok though.
Scotland looking like being on the wrong side of those "fine margins" again. On a international break where only us and the Ukraine have 3 games in 7 days Ukraine have the opportunity to rest players against the weakerst team in the group where Clark is forced to play his strongest side to try to get a result v Eire.
Even against Ireland there were a few players who already looked leggy, I worry that McGinn will be a burst baw after 30 mins.....if he lasts that long.

Well done to Steve Clark and the squad for a great campaign and deserving of winning the group

I’m not overly fussed with us being in Group A though obviously it’s nice to be in with the big boys.
The important things are the Pot2 for qualifying and the play off chance if needed.
If the balls run good, we could end up with a qualifying group something like
Hungary
Scotland
Armenia
Faroe Islands
Gibraltar
San Marino |

Well done to Steve Clarke and the boys. Overall, there has been an improvement since SC took over,
even if some rough jolts on the way.
It has been a long time since we were regularly filling Hampden and feeling a positive vibe.
For me, achieving Pot 2 for the Euro qualifiers is the main prize, although the luck of the draw will still be a factor.
( Seeing SB's Group of Death sobered me up !)
Glad that we can't face Israel but I'm sure that I'm not alone in thinking that we have played
Ukraine enough for a while, so fingers-crossed .
Being amongst the Big Boys in Group A of the Nations League may have its benefits too, I'm
sure I read at one point. Something to do with other Group A teams qualifying for the Euros
direct and so not needing the indirect qualification route. (but I didn't pay close attention at
the time, since we were down in Group C when the Nations League began ).
I hesitate to voice this, but due praise to some folk at the SFA , as Scotland was one of the prime
movers in getting the Nations League into existence. |
