The first footballer since Justin Fashnau who played for Airdrie and Hearts to come out as Gay?
Not the first person to be Gay in the world.
The guy is to be commended, not for being open with his sexuality, but for reopening discussion that is the elephant in the room in sport in general. _________________ Hope he's got plenty Rovers action to comment on tonight.... |

Struggling to understand the big deal So what, I expect that there are MANY more, not just in football but in all sport. Explanations like "football is such a MAN's game" just don't cut it for me. Let's face it, not many would argue that rugby union is a game for softies and some prominent names both officials and players have been "out" for years.
Again it's the media and their woke agendas making a big deal out of this. Live and let live! _________________ Keeping the Faith (and the Missionary work!) |

Its not just that though. There is still a massive stigma around homosexuality in football, mostly from the fans who will abuse players because of it. The lad has spoken up and, potentially made himself a target from the stands when he makes his senior debut etc.
Its fair that really this shouldn't be a thing in society and as you say live and let live, it shouldn't matter if a player is gay or straight but right now, for a lot of people it does, for the wrong reasons. |

Don’t see it as a big deal either. Noticed it was the main news story on BBC the other day, pretty mad considering the goings on in the world right now.
For what it’s worth, I was impressed with the boy’s interview…
"Of course I am aware that there will be a reaction to this and some of it will be homophobic, maybe in a stadium and on social media," Daniels added.
"It's an easy thing for people to target. The way I see it is that I am playing football and they are shouting stuff at me, but they are paying to watch me play football and I am living my life and making money from it. So shout what you want, it's not going to make a difference."
In the snowflake society of today, that was refreshing to read. |
